I followed this advice initially on Alu window frames. used Etch primer. The top coat peeled right off. Next set of windows; no etch primer. Coating is hard as rock. Used dulux epoxy enamel gloss paints. Be cautious of shrinkage and cracking if spraying a second coat >24hrs later. Need to sand prior to 2nd coat. Or just recoat within 30min or original. Better.

Dulux® Concrete paint is specific for certain colours and mixing it with other paints is not recommended! 😊

So using a spray gun requires multiple coats and has overspray whereas a brush or roller requires 1 or 2 and doesn’t have overspray.

Looks great but yes bricks are maintenance free when not painted. To modernise an older place it really transforms the place and adds value ( money) when selling

Never paint brick or stone. The reason people use these is maintenance free. Move house instead of making the next owner have to paint the house in the future!!

What do I buy for painting off paint of walls

Found a product that works on previously powder-coated aluminium. It's 2k epoxy top coat that doesn't require a primer just a sand and degrease. The particular brand is unique in that the two components (resin and hardener) are already combined in the aerosol can and simply react upon contact with the air. The benefit is unlike other 2k paints, this one has unlimited shelf life after first use. The only downsides are cost and epoxy is toxic but boy does it stick. Won't mention the brand name, only that it is intended for automotive and comes from Finland.

Once you have painted the first coat, what grit of sandpaper do yo use to lightly sand before the second coat please?

You can use almost any exterior paint , go darker & just mix watered down boncrete with the paint ‘polymer’ is the difference between weak paint & weak concrete , weak render , weak block & brick cement. It’s the magical ingredient.

The advice given here is contrary to Dulux's tech note 3.7.1 that states etch primers have little effect on previously painted/coated surfaces. In fact, the phosphoric acid present in the etch primer may interfere with the adhesion of subsequent coatings, causing delamination.
