Why have the Germans at the scene end got sten guns?
@JPSE5712 сағат бұрын
How did the Germans keep finding them? It's almost like they had a script or something! 😀

This was a travesty of the book but Taina Elg was attractive, but the media seems to steal a title for box office and elaborate it out of recognition and they had the cast to do it properly, but there would be no part for Taina.

The best John Buchan is Greenmantle but no one to have made a film of that work or Island of Sheep When you see what they did with Erskine Childer's Riddle of the Sands, perhapsit is a good job but Jenny Argutter was really good as Clara Dollman. It is worth seeing for her.

Love how Hannay's two assailants tracked him down to the police station in a grey MKII Ford Zephyr at 56.27 but by 59.10 their car had become a grey MKII Ford Consul! But then later, it miraculously reverts back to a MKII Zephyr again!

Not a realistic plot but very fine performances. Worth watching if you like older British films.

The 1935 had a plot that made a bit less sense, but the dialogue / banter there was better. The main two actors here are better tho. I still prefer the old version for the banter

isn't it funny how everyting post 90s is sooooooooooo DARK AND DEMONIC - they've trained you that way - the original two versions were light, capricious almost farcical in a comedic manner - the darker storyline was just the subtext to hang this on - beware of what they are doing - all by design. do not watch this - watch version with Robert Donat - absolutely wonderful,c harming entertaining.

How did it end? Did Victoria survive, or is it only in Hannay's imagination? Or can we just choose a happy or sad ending?

Very enjoyable version, nicely photographed. Nothing like the book! 😅 This is the 4th version I've seen (all available free on YT) and they are all completely different! 😅 but each is an enjoyable story. The ending here was overcooked. Thanks.

All the four films are enjoyable for different reasons, but the novel is quite dark and full of menace. Why the original story couldn't have had at least one outing on film is hard to work out.
