True man, I have really cracked down on commissions and let people know "this will be in my style and I have creative liberty to paint this how I see fit" within reason of course, I still talk to the client but I make it extremely clear that it'll be in my style and make sure they see my style and understand what they'll get! It can be hard to say no though, especially when you need money. 😭

It seems like the difference between truly creative people and the general population is embracing our vulnerabilities, not as weakness but as resourcefulness and resilliance. That embrace is our voice. It looks like imperfection, and failure at times. It is not a destination, it is the vehicle on the journey of creativity.

great video :) I saw a short recently about 'artist voice' and wanted to do some research into it, as a concept distinctive from 'artist style'. Thanks for the perspectives.

If you haven't already been using them I highly recommend PGH Print Ship Also make yourself some small prints, stickers, stuff like that. You need "entry level" purchases for new fans Also Also, holding a brush with your mic is SUPER distracting (at least for me)

Hey man, I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. At the same time one of the reasons you do not see my post is because it seems that every time you comment on one it comes off as you telling someone what they should do.

The lines, is that "perspective lines"? Are you using referenser and have you done the same lines on that so thats How you use it? By comparing making sure things are in the right place? Or are you painting from imagination? If so how do you use it? And what is this technique called? I have never used it. But it looks good. I want to learn more about it

When I don't feel I have a specific idea in mind, I just start smearing paint around non-objectively. Just getting myself moving is 90% of the battle 110% of the time. That and I remind myself of the famous Chuck Close quote: "Inspiration is for amateurs - the rest of us just show up and get to work."

One of the things I do for idea is to keep a notebook, not a sketchbook, with me when I am painting. I always seem to get ideas for other paintings when I am in the middle of a painting. So I put those ideas in the notebook, often with a little thumbnail sketch for composition. Then when I am looking for ideas to paint, I go to the notebook. Oh, the notebook has a title on the cover......The Well

Hello there, that's a great video. Basically findind ou artistic voice, is finding our "why". But what if, we draw / paint just for fun ? Because it's pretty, or beautiful, or because it makes us feel good ? I love to draw woman from fashion magazine. I was fashion designer for 10 years and I've stopped for about another decade. Now I'm going back to my roots which are : fashion illustration. But if I digg, I don't have any "propper why". I just do that because I love it. And as far as I can remember, I've always done that. But I can not find a strong "why", a strong "artistic voice" behind that. What do U think ? :)

Agree 100% with Dr. Siegel's statement. This is why doing proper parenting work is so helpful; parents find wellness, their kids find wellness. It's a win-win for all. Great painting by the way :)

I find it useful to keep art of my own in the studio - personal projects that are contextually inspiring. But then also having other peoples art on the wall to keep it light and different. Also, definitely tear apart some books and hang references on the wall. This is awesome Korey, excited to see what you make!
