How deep is the water
@geoffbohartfishing2 күн бұрын
@@Jaydrizzy2408 it’s really shallow out there but if you get your bait in just the right spot there’s a drop off on the other side of the log and that’s what I was aiming for. It’s about 10-15 foot after that log and then it’s only 2-3ft deep, if that, the rest of the way into the bank. In the summertime when the river is low you can walk out quite a way and actually see the drop off on the other side of the log.

Same here in Louisville I fish down at Eva bandman Park on River road im trying to figure out how deep I should fish
@matthewwhite25152 күн бұрын
@Jaydrizzy2408 I've caught big fish in the Louisville area in water 5ft deep and 30 ft deep, but I almost always fish strictly on the bottom. If fishing from the bank I would recommend hitting the outside edge of bends in the river where its usually a bit deeper and if you cant do that, look for piles of logs and trees and cast at them. Hope this helps you get a big un!

@geoffbohartfishing3 күн бұрын
@@ky00buckshot I use Ande’s Monster Monofilament 40LB Main Line and I use 80LB Ande’s Leader Line. I have been using Ande’s for a couple years because I’ve always heard good things about them. And it has low memory making it a great line to use on a baitcaster despite the heavy test! If you fray the line I do recommend pulling off a few feet and retying, it does break if it gets frayed. If you are looking for a Walmart/Baitshop option I recommend Berkeley Big Game I use that when I am out of Ande’s.

why can you fish so close to Markland dam, yet Meldahl has signs-bouys keeping all boats 400-500 yards away from dam, as both are run by Army Corps of engineers? also, is there other boat ramps other than public ramp in Vevay, that ramp way to shallow launch depth, and when i launch solo, more difficult getting boat in-out without walking into water. thanks for info!
@geoffbohartfishing11 күн бұрын
I’m not sure, but Markland has signs saying to stay back the 150 feet (50 yards). I think the sign on the lock wall says to stay away from it 300 feet or yards, I can’t remember. It’s very dangerous by the lock wall when they let boats through. I’ve seen some giant waves almost take boats out over there so I usually stay away. You could check out Carrolton Boat ramp it’s very nice, or Ghent, but it doesn’t have a dock.
