I've been back n forth on should I get a kayak or Jon boat. I was looking for your input. I live in the Redding area. My main bodies of water are the Sacramento river, whiskey town, and Shasta. Of course I want to branch out but these are the places I've been so far. I think I have the pros and cons figured out I just feel like I need advice from someone with more experience on these waters as I've only bank fished them. For the kayak, it's smaller, launch from anywhere and get some exercise in. But on the flip side it gets windy up here, gotta be hard to pedal when it gets going and your caught on an open part of the water. Id also guess you can't use them on the Sacramento river this way bc the current is so strong you can't pedal back up stream. Jon boat.. more stable, more comfortable, more ability to make it fit you. Can bring another person. With a motor it can heavy wind in large lakes and can travel upstream on the sac. On the flip side I will have to register it, use official boat launches, potentially do inspections. Heavy, will need a trailer for sure. And will need more maintenance. Any insight you have into this or even another kind of boat that can cover these waters but still stay relatively in those price ranges would be helpful. I've been a bank guy all my life and I just think it's time to get out in the open water. I really want to get on some Kokanee at whiskey. Thank you

So I give the edge to the kayak and I even have a recommendation….. Hobie Lynx….. it weighs 45 lbs…. Makes use of the Hobie Mirage Drive and won’t break the bank….. they are super stable and easy to peddle….. all things considered the Lynx is cheap for the performance you get….. When you get started on the kayak as with a boat you need to think safety and understand your limitations….. I’ve been out in very rough windy conditions in my kayaks and they have not let me down….. You will catch more fish in a kayak and fishing with someone else tends to distract me and I hook fewer fish than I do alone…. Kayak 100%

Add isolators and the DR will stop at the surface of the lake.

In Quebec, it's the speckled trout that's the star of the show, staying at a maximum of 30 feet depending on the time of year, but very frightened by the passage of a boat, which is why the use of sonar to distinguish between images of fish is not adequate. We have to fall back on the “Fish Hawk” thermometer, which tells us at what depth the fish's preferred zone is, which is between 50 and 60 degrees Farenheigt. What's more, a fish's jaw is very fragile, which is why I'm very surprised when you release fish with treble hooks, because the fish will bleed and die as a result. So how do you adapt your fishing method, i.e. start big and fast, then work your way down? Thank You

Hey cal, went out to shaver lake out of Fresno , fished from the bank with floating crawlers and power eggs. Caught over 20. Didn't want the worm, check it and spit. Wanted the power eggs in chartreuse with glitter and orange and red in the same fashion! Used 2 power eggs on a size 6 octopus with a 3' leader

Mother Nature will tell you what animals are affected by color by how the animal uses color on its self. For example birds use bright colored feathers to attract mates same with fish for example when a brook trout is getting ready to spawn the male ones get more brightly colored. It shows you that fish can differentiate colors.

@FHSTackle7 күн бұрын
Cannon downriggers have an auto stop function that only works with steel cable. If you use Dacron line, the auto stop function is disabled.

Come up to Central Oregon, Ive caught a 4.6 and 6.5 lb trout in the last few weeks and 14-16" all day long in my home lake, especially with small dodger/minnow setups like you run. River down the road has 8-40 king salmon running and everything in between
