Yeah, it’s much slower… however the best way to grow stronger as a F2P player is to focus on gathering. No joke, gathering is super under appreciated, but can give you more points than most of your military minded folks in many SVS events. You win AE, the final day of SVS by gathering on enemy server, you win or place high on gathering day each week… those rewards stack up! I’m not gonna lie and say it’s super fast - but it does open the window to resources and supplies that can otherwise only be gained through $$

And that's with no additional GH attack bonus

Colony Actions are the best way to get speed ups. The ladybug also offers speedups, so that’s a good resource for them. You CAN purchase them from the store, but I never have. I’ve obviously spent money on the game, but the colony actions and stage rewards from SVS have always kept me pretty well supplied with speedups. I try to hit the ladybug right before and after server reset each day because that gives you an opportunity to use the ladybug store twice in a short amount of time.

I don’t know honestly; I didn’t buy it all at once, so it’s hard to say. I always invest in the monthly deals (e.g. special ant and insect monthly packs that give you an award per day). That usually gives me 1-2 level 5 insects per month. My egg hatchery is leveled up to 25 with the supporting working ants leveled up. That gives me a level 1-3 orange insect every 2-3 days. It takes 2,048 level 1 orange insects to get one level 11, so I certainly didn’t do it with all level 1s, but when you collect several 5s mixed in with 3s, it cuts down on the time quite a bit. I’m sure I bought some insect or insect fodder packs along the way because the fodder cost to merge 2 level 10s to an 11 is insane.

It’s fun, definitely a P2W aspect if you want to have a really strong military, but the thing is - you don’t need a strong military to be successful in this game. If you go F2P, probably want to focus on gathering; that’s an immediate way to step up and make significant contributions to your alliance. Getting into a good server with a good culture can be difficult, but the game does allow you to migrate servers every 3 months or so. Plus, for your first week, you get a couple of free server migration tokens if you get a feel that the server you were placed in is full of idiots. It’s half city builder/half military strategy, but you CAN make a significant contribution by maxing out your gathering abilities even if you have a weak army. Through time, your gathering contributions will open to door for you to build a strong military; it just takes longer to get there.
