Maybe they should try shooting the fire extinguisher down the carb on runaway engines like that to take the oxygen out of the equation. Not 100% sure it would work though. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I know what happened with his engine and it deiseling , but wouldn’t taking the oxygen out still kill the engine?

Looks like throttle was hung up, flames were shooting out the headers and the front sparked when the motor went.

Ahhh the internet warriors. Fire extinguisher deployed 11 seconds after the car stopped. Driver walked away with no injuries or issues. TrAcK wOrKeRs SuCk!

If the crew would have attempted to help him release his belts or distracted him he would have been in more danger. They did the best thing and waited for him to be free of restraints and then got him out and away. Good job to the crew!

@marcnelson2645 the guys beside the car are corner workers with fire extinguishers. Noye their 4 wheelers and short sleeved shirts. Fire crew show up in why truck and in no hurry to help.. Especially the dude in the passenger seat.

A pull behind trailer that has a tank and small motor.you would mux the chemical and spray it it. They cost around 4500.00.

As a retired firefighter and former track safety worker you can get fire extinguishers that you can put the foam in it with water then charge it with compressed air by a schrader valve .or a 100 gal. tank in a truck with a20 HP.gas engine with pump.Fireade makes a foam concentrate for this....NHRA safety safari uses it

You do realize that many local tracks don't even have an ambulance at the track. Let alone a foam truck. That was why I only ran mostly NASCAR local tracks. NASCAR demands a City or County 1st Responders. If something happens and they have to transport. The race couldn't be restarted until another one showed up. 26 s@bryonkidder6199

Looks like the engine was dieseling itself n was running on oil n gas mixed like when a diesel runaways do. I wud almost think the upper block cracked allowing oil in the cylinders which wud explain so much smoke.

I remember seeing this happen to someone else a few years ago, his motor blew and something kept the motor running out of control, and did catch fire in the pits, if you watch below the 3 car, you can see flames shooting out where the exhaust comes out, a few moments later behind the lf wheel, you can see sparks from around the back of the motor fly. I believe what happen back then, happened again to Shirley.

A lot of clay tracks have this issue during the winter months (especially with not a lot of cars on it to work it in). Needmore doesn’t rut up during the race season

They had rain yesterday. Mr. Smith and the crew there did their best with a bad hand. You can't control the weather. The track didn't get character until about halfway in which is almost a miracle.

What crapfest ? They made it to the car in under 15 seconds. . When the fire flared back up they never flinched and kept the extinguishers going . While two guys fought the fire another helped Jimmy get out of the car .
