The show was cancelled because Fox wanted the next season to be about Chris and his wife getting a divorce, this was a request made 4 years before they had major problems, so Chris had understandable issues with the idea.

Fox fired Titus after he refused to do an episode where he and Aaron break up. Ironically Titus and the real Aaron divorced two years later.

I heard, that this show was canceled because there was a legal issue with Christopher Titus and his wife at the time or family members.

FOX cancelled it because they wanted to split him and Erin up because Darma and Greg did it, and he didn't because the show was about two screwed up people. Course that was before they split up.
