This comversation was super deep. Lisa is talking about things most Asian Americans are not aware of (not our fault, btw. This is new to almost all of us). These are the things that are stored away in the subconscious, locked away in the basement that she talks about. She is so articulate and well learned in the practice of becoming aware. And DJ does a great job of interviewing with minimal interruption.

This is such an important topic for Asian Americans. We have been programmed to not talk about how we feel with our loved ones. Can you please talk about how our heritage-based shame, makes it so difficult for us to openly talk about how we truly feel?

thanks for adding a comment! our season 1 of Erasing Shame explores a lot about our Asian American cultural heritage and why it’s hard to talk about feelings kzbin.info/aero/PLWHQRX9bKsiA2XkXRKwvpDyDX5h5Y_Aq6&si=eLlfxC8bcc4N-vnY

@@erasingshame Thank you so much for directing me to the playlist. I've just started listening to some of the videos there, which are very insightful. I think your work is very cutting-edge for the Asian American community, and I hope that more Asian Americans become aware of the message you're trying to put out there!

This is a wonderful podcast. I came across it because I'm researching ADHD in women. I was diagnosed at the end of last year (so around the time this was released) and I can see many relatives have it. I've been looking for ways to get them onboard with getting assessed. Anyway, lovely to see fresh perspectives and that it is being recognised in my Asian brothers and sisters. You're a wonderful and empathetic interviewer. I will recommend this channel. I hope you do some collaborations too as it can really boost visibility. Anyway, best wishes from the UK and keep up the good work!

~~~ Tim, I am so proud of you and I am so sorry that you had to experience from the “Church” the things you did. God knows, God knows! I also have same-sex attractions and I have made a personal choice to live a life of celibacy. I thank God for a Pastor and a Church Family that not only loves and accepts me as I am, but I am also allowed to share my ministry and my complete testimony openly, and sometimes even from the pulpit. Tim, I honor you and respect you so much and you are in my prayers each and every day. Love ya man and GOD BLESS you and protect you each and every day.
I can soooo relate to what she is saying about the police! Every time I see a police car, I feel a heightened sense of stress. After Sandra Bland and so many others were killed, I kept my registration out of the glove compartment. I also had the police called on me one warm day in the summer... someone in a neighborhood where my daughter and I were playing in park didn’t think I should be out with her due to the weather. 😩 I was terrified she would be taken away from me. 😰
It depends on the relationship if you're a married couple who prays right before you're intimate the sexual relationship is amazing and totally different than just having sex without being married or just having sex married without praying first it's different. I did not understand this until it happened to me and others I told them to pray before you have intimate relations with your spouse. This does not work if you are not married in the eyes of God than it is not the same experience when God is not blessing the union. Do not cheat in the marriage because this can destroy the bond it would never be the same. The cheating spouse will never be happy they will live in misery and not find someone else God will close their chances with another person they will not ever be trusted again. Do not cheat not worth the pain of being mentally alone forever. If you have not had a true intimate sexual relationship with God's Spirit uniting the couple then you have not experienced real Love. Pray together right before you have sex it is amazing!!!!! (married in God's eyes only) Anything else would be considered lust and lust gives you an empty feeling after sex which can lead to depression & the unmarried couple will eventually live in insecurities due to no Union to God who is Love. 1 John 4:8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. Proverbs 5 15 Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well. 16 Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets. 17 Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee. 18 Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. 19 Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love. 20 And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger? 21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings. 22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins. 23 He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray. Hosea 1 2 When the Lord began to speak by Hosea, the Lord said to Hosea: “Go, take yourself a wife of harlotry And children of harlotry, For the land has committed great harlotry By departing from the Lord.” Hosea 2 6 “Therefore, behold, I will hedge up your way with thorns, And wall her in, So that she cannot find her paths. 7 She will chase her lovers, But not overtake them; Yes, she will seek them, but not find them. Then she will say, ‘I will go and return to my first husband, For then it was better for me than now.’ 8 For she did not know That I gave her grain, new wine, and oil, And multiplied her silver and gold-Which they prepared for Baal. Hosea 2 13 I will punish her for the days of the Baals to which she burned incense. She decked herself with her earrings and jewelry, And went after her lovers; But Me she forgot,” says the Lord. 14 “Therefore, behold, I will allure her, Will bring her into the wilderness, And speak comfort to her. 15 I will give her her vineyards from there, And the Valley of Achor as a door of hope; She shall sing there, As in the days of her youth, As in the day when she came up from the land of Egypt. 16 “And it shall be, in that day,”Says the Lord, “That you will call Me ‘My Husband,’ And no longer call Me ‘My Master,’ 17 For I will take from her mouth the names of the Baals, And they shall be remembered by their name no more. 18 In that day I will make a covenant for them With the beasts of the field, With the birds of the air, And with the creeping things of the ground. Bow and sword of battle I will shatter from the earth, To make them lie down safely. 19 “I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me In righteousness and justice, In lovingkindness and mercy; 20 I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, And you shall know the Lord. 21 “It shall come to pass in that day That I will answer,” says the Lord; “I will answer the heavens, And they shall answer the earth. 22 The earth shall answer With grain, With new wine, And with oil; They shall answer Jezreel. 23 Then I will sow her for Myself in the earth, And I will have mercy on her who had not obtained mercy; Then I will say to those who were not My people, ‘You are My people!’ And they shall say, ‘You are my God!’ ”
I’m surprised that there isn’t more attention surrounding this. I just discovered this today and I’ve looked over your website and as someone struggling with significant mental health issues, I find any open discussion liberating. I struggle feeling ashamed of admitting my conditions and their effects on me to my family and work and it keeps me from seeking accommodations that help me. I’ll be following this project from now on so I hope your videos with low viewership here do not discourage you from continuing this project. Thank you so, so much - I know it personally helps me more than you know. I hope you are well this holiday season and Happy holidays.
