Very helpful. Any chance you could share the material or scene for the marble at the beginning of this video?

would you still recommend using linear color space, or the new sRGB default in later versions of octane?
@mingzhenchen31455 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tutorial!! but hi, seems your floor is using diffuse material. But if the floor is using glossy material, how to do it?
@hynkel84545 жыл бұрын
lmfao why would you use a render of all white to color grade?

hello very good video you have. Just i have to mention that when i do this tecknic with octane render i have an issue. If make a small plane and do the same tecknics its appear a little transparency not dissappears the whole plane and keep the sadow. However when i increase the size of my plane its disappears gradually. And i thinks for octane is beter to use floor and not plane. Pls try it and let my know if it is true or if my computer have to throw out of my balcony...hahah just kiding. (yes i know i do not write well because i dont know very well this language and im strugly little)
@Zulu85 жыл бұрын
Hey, Thanks for the feedback. You write well for someone who doesn't speak English and your message was understood so that's a bonus :) The floor is definitely a better alternative as i believe it mimics an infinite size rather than you scaling a plane up manually.

Thanks for the Tutorial. I'm new to C4D and I've got two issues. 1st. When I check the Alpha channel under octane settings I get a zero background (checkered surface). 2. Under the floor material (which is an octane material) I don't have the "matte" option - Instead, I get a "shadow catcher" option. I have all other options as you except "matte". Any ideas? - please help. Thanks
@SlayeRFCSM4 жыл бұрын
Shadow catcher is the same as Matte in this case. Also had this issue but tried to check the flag and it worked perfectly. And do not forget to restart the live render viewer.

I just made the switch from PC last week after being in the Apple ecosystem for the last 8 years of my life. Super duper happy with the switch. A bit of a struggle at first to get use to, but a week of troubleshooting Windows 10 and hardware issues I'm finally happy with my results so far! My Specs: CPU: Intel i7 8700k GPU: Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti RAM: 16gb SSD: 120gb+512gb Harddrive: 1TB Alright so now here's the potential problem. I bought Audrey Lebrov's CG assets and it's a .vbd sequence of a cloud with lightning from the program HoudiniFX. It's a very high quality .vbd cloud sequence that he lets you buy for 1 euro and it's taking about 12-15 minutes per image to render. I'm currently at frame 31 ( as of 1:45am 09/05/2018 ), and it's been a total of 8 hours of rendering just those 31 frames...so the results I said above are from after following your tutorial. This is a WHOLE LOT faster than my old MacBook Pro, but I thought it'd be able to render much faster still. It renders fast for low poly animations that don't look realistic (using the regular Cinema 4D render system), but since I'm using Octane to render for that more realistic looking render...are these numbers sounding normal? Is there more I can do to render this project out faster? There are 480 images in this sequence, so at this rate...based on an edumacated guess I'd be finished rendering in like two-three days...

First of all, Congratulations on the switch! Hopefully that will be the best decision of your existence haha. From my understanding with .VBD files render times can go crazy when you have a low number in the Voxel size. You'll find this setting in the generate tab of your VDB loader/volume node. If you are using octane. If you're not familiar with voxel size think of it as the resolution of your fog. The higher the size the larger your "fog pixels" will be. The lower the smaller. The bad thing is the lower the number mean the higher the resolution which ends up being long render times. What you can do is open the live viewer and just mess around with the voxel size until you cant notice a "pixel cube" shape in the fog. Also it depends on how far away your camera is in the scene to your fog. Obviously the closer you are the more noticeable the pixels will be. Similar to how a jpg. works when you zoom in on Photoshop. I hope i made sense. If you have any questions im happy to answer them here man.

hi! i'm having a problem with the backlighting in that it shows noticeably on the floor behind my object. even when i change the shape to a sphere it's very obviously brighter on the floor behind my object than elsewhere in the scene. would rather not have to use a matte or multi pass with alpha... any advice? xoxo
