The H3 is underrated. Really a great design.

For me two significant differences between Andersen and SP were that 1) SP builds an air gap between the exterior cladding and the wood structure which seems more rot-proof and 2) the jamb grips pretty tightly on the Home Depot Andersen, making them harder to lift. The smooth, light lift force required for SP is a real bonus. It did make me stop and verify the air tightness, but their testing on that looks pretty good.

Thanks for doing this! Been looking for a pass through option but expected the floating bifolds would be expensive and maybe delicate. Appreciate knowing about this option.

My architect recommended sierra pacific to me. Thanks for the video. Great review and comparison. As an engineer I do have a feeling that when Anderson makes so make commercials and marketing, the markup on prices may not worth it.

Cost wise, how does the Westchester compare with the H3? Westchester has really nice hardware, with a tall enough bottom rail to add a traditional handle, whereas in the H3 has the added complexity (and benefits) of the vinyl mid layer. Which tends to be more "affordble" Love that you show the section details. That where the rubber meets the road.

Hi. Thanks for this detailed information. We are in Colorado, building a 9K sq ft. home with a ton of windows in it. There are two things I am struggling with -- 1. What is the best way to finish the interior, wood portion of the window given that Colorado is very dry, and we run a beefy humidifier in the house as a result. We have ruined the casing and sills because of this in the past. -- 2. Are there any options for privacy on the glass so that we don't need to have the blinds and drapes drawn?

Hey Nathan! Thanks for the comment! I am in NJ and our climate is very different compared to yours. I would recommend talking with a local painter. Regarding glass options, they do offer obscure and decorative glass options.

Great video. I think comparing the Marvin Elevate to the Westchester is like comparing Apples and Oranges. The Westchester I would say would be between the Elevate and the Magnum in terms of quality, features, etc. The Sierra Pacific Westchester sill is made of Vinyl, just like the H3's.

Hey Aaron! Thanks for the comment. I agree that they aren't apples to apples. This video was made for a client who wanted something more but was concerned about budget. The architect wasn't a fan of H3 and the client needed a solution. They went with the Westchester.
