The problem with this pole length has stopped me buying this tent I have watched too many videos and reviews where it’s cropped up as a problem to give me any confidence in it. It’s a shame really because you look as though you can cook under cover in this tent when it rains.

I went up a size and they are fine as is but would also be fine if they lost a size. Will be washing at 30 on Delicates and putting them in the dryer on Gentle Care until they are about half done then air drying them flat on a rack like you did to finish them off. Asked a bunch of enlisted guys about how they care for theirs as the army obviously wouldn't have the time and space to hand wash an dry flat. The most common answer I received was "Maintain with fire."

I recently picked up a used 30L FreeFlow in mint condition, brought it home & opened it up...like what the actual fck?? Half the inside is taken up by the shape of the FreeFlow mould ffs... For all of Berghaus history & ingenuity with backpack design, a simple fix was to add more bag material around that area i.e have the bag material shape out like a banana to allow for the correct internal capacity...not happy with the bag overall.

@RambloManiacsАй бұрын
@@xix94 yes, this is a totally different animal to a softie. More of an active layer. A lot of people seem to compare and complain that it's not as good, but it was never intended as a softie alternative. In fact there is a softie replacement. Look up British army pcs thermal jacket.

The nylon shell is pretty flimsy, pit zips are in the wrong place (on the arms), micro fleece bunches and sticks to your clothing when putting it on or taking it off. I’m sure there are better smocks out there. Just got to find where they are.

Yeah mine kinda bunches up too .
@RambloManiacsКүн бұрын
@@solb101 yeh I wish there was a mesh inside to help it slide over your base layer and no fleece inside the arms. However, I think it's intended use is to put on with nothing or just a base layer and not remove. It's not really a throw on and whip off kind of later like an insulated jacket. The nylon is stronger than you think.
@solb101Күн бұрын
@@RambloManiacs Yes, it’s surprisingly hot when your active, even with ventilation. The fleece traps moisture and let’s off some steam when you finally pull it off. It’s nice for knocking about in the cold though.

Does anyone know if a 12cm zebra billy can would fit in here?
@jimbojet87284 ай бұрын
The ‘tiny’ micro lock was designed to lock your suit case zips together. They don’t actually ‘lock’ as such but they secure the zips in place and any would be thief would have to fiddle with the Biner in order to open it. It works well too.

@@narutobroken check out forcesuniformandkit.co.uk. they give a pretty good list of sizes and explain the sizing system. I'm around 165cm, 66kg and 38" chest. There's extra space in these for a liner as with most military jackets.

I've got an older edition one and I love it, but the newer one is a bit of an upgrade. Mine was made in 1997, makes me feel young and is 80% cotton, 20% polyester so it's even worse in the rain, but I have waxed it a bit. Pretty rugged and I'd say it's still in serviceable condition after all these years. Pretty much no fading, the camo is intact, no tear-ups - only a replaced zipper which might have been my fault. Still trying to find a more recent one just for the different cotton to polyester ratio.

I have multiple versions and colors of the commercial ones. I use the ones with the pen pockets on the sleeves for my winter work wear. I use the ones without the pen pockets as more of an after work dress wear occasion. Here in the United states it's a chore finding these sweaters/jumpers in the non-tactical colors. I have ordered from the Outdoorknitwear site but shipping to the U.S. is freaking expensive. Lately I have found a site here in the United States that carries most of the models and colors. I have just put in another order for a field model ( the 1945 in OD) and a dress sweater (Patches, no pens, no epaulets in Rifle Green). I would love to find one of the military issued ones in my size here and add it to the collection.

What’s better bamboo or polyester for base?
@RambloManiacs8 ай бұрын
Not sure there's a "better" as much as it's a choice of what you prefer/value. Polyester is hard to beat for quick drying. Bamboo is more antibacterial so doesn't get as smelly and is very very soft. Bamboo is strong so can be made very thin to help with drying quicker. My thick bamboo socks take an eternity to dry though. Neither are particularly cold when wet.

so my water kit is a steel bottle w/ steel cup and steel twig stove, a few filtration options (sawyer mini, aquatabs, millbank bag), the only thing i do different for coffee is boil the coffee; the only thing different i do for tea is sprinkle the leaves in after the boil is done. i can't say 'this is my brew kit' because its my water kit upon which i can always make tea/coffee, but this is a really nice setup for whats pretty much the same thing. water kit is a separate pouch that can be carried on its own or mounted in whatever way one could imagine to whatever larger kit is present. that pouch is high end and super nice
