As a local the problem with Bendigo is that it doesn't have a river or a huge lake or a shorefront. Apart from a few historical buildings, the Art Gallery and a hole in the gound it's really very "meh!" What attracts most people (by volume) to Bendigo is it's sporting events. The Bendigo cup, Basketball tournaments, horse racing. Events at the show grounds like super trucks and rodeos. Until recently the now defunct maddison and groven the moo. Having said that it has heaps of great accomodation. Just stear clear of the Hargreaves Mall and the Market Place, which, like many other rural cities is plagued by ferals. It has a very vibrant coffee culture and great places to eat. If I had a young family I would go somewhere else but if you just want to chill, drink coffee and meander slowly until tea time, welcome !

Took the spirit of Tasmania for Sydney before in the short time it ran. Great service and food, loved it. The conveniace taking your own car. Drive it on, relax on board and then drive off in Beautiful Tasmania.Pity this does not operate anymore.

Whilst the deluxe cabin looks nice, at over $500 for a mere 12 hour trip, most of which you'll be asleep, and it doesn't even include food, forget it.

Waterpark in Geelong aquariums, formula One racing at Albert park, Melbourne cup horse racing, gumbya park tynong, crown casino say hello too Mr James Packer if there, none of these mentioned the wave pool at Albert park , so i know more about Melbourne cause i am from there and Victoria Australia colour is purple 😮,

My wife and I travelled on the Ghan from Darwin to Adelaide last year. The staff didn't know how to smile, the food was very ordinary, the crockery chipped and apart from the indigenous guide who guided us on the boat at Katherine Gorge (she was brilliant) the whole trip was truly underwhelming. The best part was when the train had to stop because of a spectacular lightning storm including one of the engines being struck by lightning. Definitely not worth the money.
