I use teflon paste. But sometimes you’re out in bfe and only have that flattened crusty roll in the bottom of your pickup tool box. I can never remember what direction it’s supposed to go on. I imagine it like a big nut I’m threading on and that helps. This is a small clip from an air-drier replacement video I made and in the video I take the tape off and use Permatex Thread Sealant on the fitting because I’m not an animal.

@@MikesMischief yeh the rolloff cable swap where you pulled it through the entire frame system by chaining the cable together and welding it was pretty clever. I’ve never done one that way.

@chadrides914 I got that idea way back in 2011. I used to haul scrap 3”&4” thick steel cable from the dragline crane at the coal mine. One time I asked the crane guys how they restring that big ba**ard and they do something similar with a connector I think. I asked my boss if I could try it on the rolloff. They said no we just use a loader and pull it all the way out and then fish it back through with 2 guys. I think I begged them to let me try back then. I was new to the industry and they didn’t really listen to me too much. I knew a decent weld would hold long enough to pull the cable through and it’s the non-working end of the cable so I knew I could cut off any heat damaged cable. I told them that’s how they do it at the mine and they eventually let me try it. It does work pretty good. I’m not sure how much faster it is than just pulling it out because I’ve never done it that way.
@chadrides914
@chadrides914 Күн бұрын
@@MikesMischief right maybe not faster but like you mentioned you were able to do it by yourself without 2 other guys pushing and pulling cable which is what we do. Good stuff. 👍

Tried to adjust the slacks on my 1978 vintage international loadstar school bus (not a camper, I keep them all seats). Slacks frozen as can be. This video was most excellent help in getting my old ones off. They are of course manuals. I didn’t have to remove the cans , they were loose enough that the pushrod would completely disengage from the slack with a little pressure. My snap rings are old school style without the eyes for pliers. On those best way is to spin it till the end is in the middle of a spline (these old trucks are wide 10 spline). Then can get a screwdriver under it and start it out of the groove and work around. I got lucky these were not frozen to S cam, they came off rather easy, these look original or close to it . This bus lived in the desert it’s whole life so no rust to speak of but lots of dust! I can see I’ll need to do brake shoes soon on it. What do you recommend for little guys to lift the rear 22.5” wheels and the drum on and off.. I’m all of 140 pounds . Again thanks for a great video

Thanks for your rather windy explanation on how not to break a spindle . Instead of going to a machine shop and going through all of that wouldn't it be easier just to remove the rocks permanently or raise your deck . I've been cutting 3 1/2 acres for 10 years with my bad boy I actually hit a 5/8 piece of vertical rebar used as a property marker, I turned it into a pretzel and this is the first spindle that broke . In my own opinion is John Deere is trash anymore they are nothing like they used to be . That being said thanks for the video

Wing ain’t no damn Ghost Town lol. There’s a lot of ghost areas in very small inhabited town, the old original churches and schools things like that matter fact I don’t wanna give away the secret but the old school in a particular town has done a haunted house. You can go in there anytime really I mean if you live up there, it’s unlocked sometimes you can just walk in Old Farmsteads and what not but you kinda have to know the land you kinda have to know the area and the people you don’t want to be out there driving around wandering amok but if you’re hunting or whatever you have permission or not posted things like that that’s really where you’ll find a lot of the stuff as somebody who owns one of those abandoned Farmstead yeah I mean definitely don’t go out there without asking around and making contact with somebody nine times out of 10 they’re gonna be pretty welcoming if they know why you’re there but you know if you’re walking around you are liable to get shot or confronted. You know we have big issues with people hunting on our land literally within spitting distance of our posted signs and that is very infuriating when people just make themselves at home and then have the audacity to get confrontational instead of saying oops I’m sorry my bad you know I fucked up. Let me introduce myself. You know some people just are very entitled and people will steal from the sites, but I know back in the day up there and down south we would go cruising around find a place to park. If you will a lot of times out on some abandoned Farmstead that’s where we would go I guess. lol read between the lines so I stumbled on some really interesting places just totally on accident just taking a gravel road and following it to wherever

I think I said in the video that wing isn’t a ghosts town but that it’s a small town. I want to try to be respectful. It’s just a Halloween special I do on my channel and not my regular content. I have to ad something in the video to look at and most of the ghosts towns are a diagonal road that may or may not have rubble strewn about. Some places there’s nothing to see at all. Wing is a good example of a very small town that is likely an accumulation of family with roots in the surrounding ghost towns. I showed brand new asphalt and a remodeled c-store showing that it’s probably going to be around for a while yet. Admittedly I’d love to contact people to get permission to go deeper into these places but I have pretty severe anxiety and I hate bothering people. Also I don’t really have a ton of time when I’m out filming. I work full time and have 3 kids to raise and a house to maintain. So KZbin gets what’s left of my time which isn’t much.

@MikesMischief
@MikesMischief 8 күн бұрын
The farmer that taught me this trick has been doing it for decades and hasn’t had any rims corroded through. He puts it in expensive tractor and implement tires. 70% of people with a chronic leaking mower tire will go buy a new one with a new rim already mounted ready to use. They then throw away the leaky tire with the old rim. This mixture will give that tire another 5-10 years of service keeping it out of the landfill and eliminating the need to produce another one. This mixture is in every single mower and atv tire that I own and has been for years. When I get a new machine it’s the first thing I do.

Good video. My question is : we know the issue/problem. what was the cause... Lack of maintenance, leaking injector diluting the oil with fuel so minimal you might not notice it? Because I'd just replace push rod,rocker,maybe cam.🤷‍♂️
@MikesMischief
@MikesMischief 9 күн бұрын
We were trying to get it running the day before and it fired up. My boss revved it to the moon trying to keep the fuel primed. I’ve heard that letting them sit and revving them to the moon especially can cause them to bend. You can see the crater on the rocker arm isn’t very deep. The 6.5 is just the old doggy 6.2 with a small turbo on it. I think they use the same springs in the heads. I wonder if those springs aren’t stout enough for the added boost? At high revs you might get valve float. The rocker arms just sit there. The only thing holding them in place is spring tension and that shallow dish on the rocker arm. Maybe you see where I’m going with this. High revs, weak spring, valve float, pushrod dancing around loose for a moment. If you have an aftermarket tuner or some addition causing more boost you’ll see more bent pushrods than a stock motor that isn’t being hammered on.

Plugs are risky because they can damage the inner wires of the tire
@MikesMischief
@MikesMischief 14 күн бұрын
No, they’re not risky at all. Old tire salesman stories there. Rubber and cotton can’t damage steel any worse than the object that punctured the tire. I’ve installed hundreds of plugs. Hundreds. In the landfill 6 times a day with 10 tires on the ground. Rail road ballast, gravel roads, under-inflation, 175° asphalt, scorned exes with sharp objects are harder on a tire than any repair a guy might make with a plug kit. Stretching this beads over the rim isn’t good on the belts either, leaving a foreign object in for long periods of time (slow leak). Wheel full of mud. Imagine the damage to the steel belts when a loaded cement mixer is doing a 70 point turn to get into someone’s back yard. I actually drill out my punctures with a 3/16 drill bit now before running the plug in done that for the last 200 plugs or so. I should update this video.

I think there's some type of misunderstanding going on here. One says it runs fine no problem. The other believes that we are pouring used motor oil unfiltered directly into the fuel reservoir like filters don't exist. Diesel engine will run off of bacon grease. No matter what you use, it still has to be filtered to an extent before going into a fuel reservoir.
