This series is excellent - clear and comprehensive. As an aspiring AC and GC referee in England, it would be helpful if it could be indicated which sections apply only to American Rules, or if there are any differences between AR and AC or GC. Many of the technical provisions, I believe, are the same (double taps, crush shots, bevelled edge, judging wiring etc.) but there may be subtleties of which I am unaware. This would make the videos more useful for an international audience, and of course in the US for those playing other codes. But, in any event, many thanks.

Thanks Bob, this is one of my disciplines I work on in my roquette practice twice a week. This shot pays off during a game where your opponents ball needs to be cleared away from the hoop area, or to progress further in Ricochet or A.C games so I find mastering this shot to be very important part of the game.

This is a helpful animation and explained well. Most players with the skills to make this leave, however, would take the break to the peg and set the leave having brought the next ball to play (Red here) and the partner ball to rover, hit Red first after rover and then rushed Black up toward or past #3 to complete the leave. If you are going to give Red every incentive to shoot away to a corner if the leave is nearly unhittable, why leave three hoops to be made with a two-ball break or another challenging play to pick up Red off the boundary?

As a child I remember a small stand on one edge of town (don't remember which direction) that only opened in the summertime and sold ice cream and shakes. Does anyone remember that? I left in 81 so this was a long time ago. I seem to recall it could have been near the Burger King (which is still there apparently) though I can't be sure.

I was amazed to see how little difference there is between a hard shot and a soft one. I knew there was one but I thought the difference was much more pronounced.

Many of the houses don't look so nice anymore. Welch's Food Market is now derelict. The place is going downhill. My wife has lived here her entire life, and I moved here six years ago. We were married four years ago. Drugs are getting bad. Noise is too much. I hear Schumer wants to shut down the post office. Now that the youngest is in college I am looking to get out; even my wife is just about ready to leave. No comment on the Prius or driving while recording with a cellphone.

IF I understand these videos correctly, the first three shots are either not stop-shots or are flawed ones; in any event the slow motion version of 1-3 each show a double tap. And the later shots each show no double tap. So is the point to use a hard stop in short distance clearance shots?

Bob How about some angled wicket shots?? Hand and feet position.
@johnnym6175 жыл бұрын
I think the question is what caused the double tap. I think that it is obvious that the progress of the blue ball was stopped by the yellow ball causing the mallet to catch up and double tap. Even if the blue ball were to have hit the wicket on the way through, unless it was a significant hit it probably wouldn't have impeded the ball enough for the mallet to catch up. If the yellow ball wouldn't have been there the blue ball would have probably continued moving forward and no double tap would have occurred. I think the question becomes more problematic it it were to be an angled shot because then the contact with the wicket could have impacted the motion of the ball enough to allow the mallet to catch up. As long as it appears to be a fairly clean straight on shot, the yellow ball is definitely the cause of the double tap thus no fault according to American Rules.
