Why DO interviewers insist on asking the same questions over and over? They KNOW it has been a dead end many times before.....Just ask the guy about cake, or whatever!

I had a studio on the fifth floor in the early 2000s. My year in that space, lead me to create a studio wherever I lived. I learned from PAFA, an artist needs their studio. My studio is a space set aside to study art.

In figurative art we have so many world class mentors throughout art history. Without any question, this happy-go-lucky poseur Fischl is not one of them. Actually I am embarrassed for all of us that he has any standing. These days the artist is not under mentorship, and mostly left to his own self-tutelage arrived at by constant study of the best. At least I am gratified to not have been misled by such a man.

Will there be another opportunity to attend an art exhibit with William Harnett's work? I was recently introduced into his work and would love to see some of his work in person.

I'm thrilled beyond belief that I'm not in this particular art school, having to listen to "professors" like this man Fischl. On the surface he seems like a likable guy, but I'm talking about his paintings and what he doesn't know about making good paintings. I find it rather insufferable in that sense. I was aghast that in this video a comparison was made between Fischl and Thomas Eakins!!! This is absolutely preposterous! Just look at how well Eakins paints, and how well he composes. Now show me just ONE painting where Fischl can do the same! He cannot and never could! Gawd, this is just to hard to swallow that the art world is suffering from such a paucity of talent that we must elevate today's hacks anyway! Do curators, art writers, and Fischl himself really think we are dumb enough to buy these ruses?

Her figurative works have a strong quality and make the viewer see the human body from a different perspective. I like the honesty and frankness of how we view the human body from different aspects of life. Many artists, not to mention the average person have different a relationship with the body. Traditionally, a male artist paints a female model with certain biases and stereotypes. When the artist paints themselves, the perspective changes. Her work should be shown more and these paintings will allow people to discuss the figurative to educate and grow.

I admire Zoey’s work and I think she’s one of the best painters working today, anywhere in the world. However, in my opinion, those Atelier programs teach you how to paint in a French Academic style and ultimately your work will look like thousands of other artists. Waste of money. That thing about needing to know the rules to break them is a myth. If you want to paint a human face you don’t need to study for three years. Just work it out.
