The Silver Melody Hand Bells have a bit of a brighter sound, they sound a bit more like a Wine Glass Harp being played w/ Mallets.

Nice! I alway love this arrangement. Can you provide some information on the bell tree. We currently have the traditional bell tree but, I am looking for something that can eliminate the need string the bells in the middle of a concert and that also can be played with the table bells.

That is actually a "Matrix". It's a product designed by Schulmerich. Brian and I worked at the Schulmerich factory at the time, so we borrowed one to test it out. The one in the video is outfitted with Silver Melody bells, but it also works with standard handbells. The bells are laser etched with the note names, since there is no handle to denote pitches. It's a fantastic set up and worked perfectly for this piece. Since neither of us work there any more I don't know if they still make them, but if you're interested give the factory a call and find out.

great ideas for home practice. Do you know of any affordable practice-type individual hand bells? I purchased some cheap aluminum children's color coded bells but they sound so tinny and awful. Better than nothing, but can you recommend anything better?

If #SmilingHard is a hashtag, I invoke it. If not, I create it. Smiling my face off watching this totally fun video. The BBB is going to bring bells to the realm of coolness with the kids. Gotta get more people seeing the instrument used in different and fun ways like this! (I even enjoyed the Boomwhackers part, and that's saying a LOT.) Well done, boys!

Handbell Brothers weeellllll The happiest song I've ever heard probably is Happy by Pharrell Williams. Is that too dull? LOL It's a lot of repetition, but I bet you could figure out some ways to make it different. Whaddya think?

Interesting... You either hear crappy handbell groups in church, or you see decent handbell choirs that promote so much cheezeball schtick when they play secular music that it makes you want to vomit.

We're glad you liked the video and that you found it helpful! We haven't really decided what we want to make a tutorial about next. As a new ringer, is there anything that is confusing about handbells that no one has been able to explain yet?

Thanks guys. My wife and I just started playing hand bells at church and have never done so in our lives. So, we asked ourselves after practice today, 'Hmmm, we have our music with us at home, but how do we practice effectively without any real bells, especially on bass bells? Maybe tape a brick to a spatula? We'll give your suggestions a try and check out your blog. You guys also exhibit a sense of humor. Makes learning a pleasure. Thanks.
