I have a pretty good memory, but when trails split off in too many different directions, I can only remember so much, so there were times I made "X" markers with sticks to help me find my way back.==== It is wise you carry a "G", so that's good..... In addition, maybe consider buying 3 or more cans of Bear Spray.... 1 can up front, 2 cans in the back, and 1 can when going on walks & such, in addition to your "G".... and Bear Spray isn't just for Bears & other dangerous wildlife, but it's good against aggressive dogs & BAD PEOPLE too.... Oh, ok, you have a BYRNA LAUNCHER... Never used it, but saw commercials & KZbin videos.... Sorry I'm saying "G", but I want to be careful with my words on Social media.
@MilesInAmericaАй бұрын
@SylvainSybaris I understand about the "G". Marking the trail with an X... what a great idea! Thank you! I will do that from now on. 🙂 I do have some bear spray, but I will get a couple more. 👍

Currently, I'm not traveling.... In 2022 & 2023 I was traveling all over the New England States & the Appalachian States, then returned back to Orlando, Florida in January 2024 where I am now just staying with my family for a time... It's a huge 2 story house, so my room is always there when I return to earn & save money for a time before hitting the road again.... I am concerned about the country come November after the 2024 election.... Sometimes I wonder why the Government deliberately has an open border, and I hear about it on the news... I try to remain logical, but I'm very street smart & cautious.... I'm planning on driving up to Alaska this November, but my family said they are staying.

I think it's cool you use a device to count your steps.... I just sort of walk around & such, and I love hiking whether long or short, but I do want to stay active, so yes, walking is indeed very important, but it's also fun too, and it's kind of crucial at the same time.... I've toured & explored all over Colorado (North, East, South & West Colorado, but I passed it when I stopped in Loveland (Great name, right?) ... I lived in Aspen back in 1998 working for Mountain Temp Service, and then I took a Part-Time job for the Aspen Skiing Company and I learned how to ski which was a great memorable experience.... On my days off, I visited dozens of cities, towns, places of interest, ski resorts & yes, even Ghost Towns, and after a year in Colorado, I drove back to Florida.

@@MilesInAmerica .... Regarding strange sounds in the vehicle.... Well, listening to that sound at the end, it sounded like the power windows or the power seat moving either forward or backward and then some sort of "ticking" sound .... On the sensible side of it all, it has to be something logical, right? ... Maybe it's a mouse chewing on a cord causing an electrical short? But ghosts? Well, I don't know if I believe in ghosts, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.... I'm always by myself & lonely, and being alone all the time in the wilderness or in dangerous remote places or even van-camping at Walmart, I can become paranoid at times, and my imagination runs a bit high at times.

Yes, I know just about all the Truck Stops/Travel Plazas places to park overnight (LOVE'S, T&A, Flying-J, Pilot, PETRO-CANADA), or the Highway Rest Areas & Road-Side Pullouts, and of course the Super Walmarts, but Cracker Barrel Restaurant allows overnight parking, and some grocery stores, like SAFEWAY, Albertsons, and some 24hr. McDonald's.... Also, you can overnight park at most Hotel Chains, and only one time, security knocked on my door..... Listen, it's NOT that I am a cheap bum, but rather, I'm smart to save money when being on the road for 1 to 2 years, and hotels & motels are very costly.... For showers to stay clean, ALL truck stops have showers @ $5 to $10, but I learned in 2012 that it is best to buy a membership at the 24hr. Planet Fitness for $25 a month, so that's a great place to shower & you can camp in their parking lot too, and when you see a crystal clear lake, go for a swim, same when near the beach..... Another secret is some churches & Rescue Missions/Shelters have free showers, and if money is tight, they will give you free meals & access to the FOOD PANTRY because it's not just for the homeless, but rather anyone in need.

I have traveled all my life from 1964 to 2024, and I'm 60 now.... I started Van-Camping alone in the mid 90's for business & pleasure, and so far I have driven to & explored 49 States & 12 Canadian Provinces, and the entire Northern Provinces of Mexico which I no longer will visit due to their FAKE Police removing my License Plate for financial extortion every time I stop at a store, and being captured my the Mexican Cartel near Monterrey, Mexico in 1996, so I'm done with Mexico..... With all the traveling I have done over the decades, visiting EVERY major & large cities in America & Canada, plus the countless small towns & ghost towns, and every National Park & many State Parks, I STILL HAVEN'T SEEN EVERYTHING.... This is another reason why I like watching other travelers videos, so I can discover new places to explore..... I typically Van-Camp all over North America for maybe up to 2 years, but usually for just a year or so, and when it's time to end my journey, I make my way back to Orlando, Florida where I live.
