Thanks a ton! I needed to see some Caran D'Ache worked on muslin, for an upcoming project, and found your video. SO helpful. Also your art is so fantastic, absolutely inspired by it, the stitching really brings the piece to life. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed seeing it come together.

Before I watched this video, I read some tips on another site. This tip is very confusing: “Inktense pencils are permanent on fabric once all color has been washed out and no pencil marks remain. Any remaining pencil marks will run.” Does this mean that, if I miss painting over any pencil mark with water, when the quilt is washed the color on the missed part will run?
@HelenGoddenQuiltsАй бұрын
Is this a comment I made or the other site? The pigment needs to be activated with water to make it ink-like and it goes into the fibres and dyes the fabric. If not gently activated, as demonstrated , it will definitely wash off. Inktense how I demonstrate is on unwashed calico/ muslin and for art work not planning on washing. I can not answer a question about I go from another site. .

Helen, loved every moment of these blocks being quilted. I know it’s an old video but a great one. Why! Love the styling and the definition of the black sun dyed area’s. Truly love your projects. Are you going to be doing anymore? ❤❤🌸🌸

Do you use regular dye to paint in your fabric and curious if the sharpie marker bleeds when you use it I live this technique
@HelenGoddenQuilts4 ай бұрын
If you wish to learn my techniques, here is a class for you. It is regular dye on very specific fabric. Because of the fabric, sharpie nor the dye bleed any where that I don’t want. I have 100% control with no additives. Join my class. helengodden.com/product/arty-farty-sunflowers-online-class/

Because these are water soluble you can’t wash the block? Or do you have any other tips to make it more permanent on the muslin?
