Such a bad idea. Suction cup grab bars fail... You will not know when it will fail but it will. We all have had suction cups on some items and after a few years, they fail why do you think this item will be any different?

How do my daughters, who live in different states, drop in on my husband? Use video after communicate?

There's a shortage of information here I'm sorry to criticise. When I try to drop in on someone the menu on my Alea app shows only the apps in my home. How do you drop in on someone else's Alea Echo Show if you only have their mobile number - don't you have to register permission? I'm at a loss to know how to drop in on anyone outside your own premises.

We have a family member with dementia who wear incontinence underwear for 'just in cases'. She has a bit of OCD and sometimes she forgets what we told her and would dispose the incontinence underwear when it gets just a bit dirty. We have paste a note on the wall facing the toilet seat at eye level but she still removes the underwear. When we ask, she would tell us she didn't see the note. We do not know how else to manage this situation as it happens mostly during middle of the night when everyone is deeply asleep. Any suggestions?
@memorycarehomesolutions
@memorycarehomesolutions Жыл бұрын
Hi there! Yes, due to processing changes, visual cues like signs may not be enough support for someone living with dementia. They need step by step verbal prompts to guide through the task. Is the family member able to put incontinence underwear on again after she removes the dirty ones? Even though they aren't too dirty, due to increased sensory processing, they may be more uncomfortable to her. Please give us a call at 314-645-6247 if you'd like to discuss more!

Would a "standing up" detector be useful in politely reminding the person to use their cane or walker? Maybe turn on the lights full brightness ?
@memorycarehomesolutions
@memorycarehomesolutions Жыл бұрын
Hi Frank, a 'standing up' detector can sometimes alarm the person causing falls or upset. There are innovative products like the 'walker squawker' available to try that can help remind to take the walker. joyforall.com/products/walker-accessories-walker-squawker We often use motion sensor lights!
@faengelm
@faengelm Жыл бұрын
@@memorycarehomesolutions Thanks. I have been evaluating the walker squawker, and it is good at keeping a person interested in the walker once they are on it. However, I was looking for a way to use an automated friendly voice to remind them to use the walker when standing up

Is there a way that I can angle the screen to look downwards on the camera? When I do a drop in call, I cannot see my son on the couch in our living room.
@memorycarehomesolutions
@memorycarehomesolutions 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rachel, I don't think older versions of the Echo Show have features that would help with that. The only solution would be to move the device to angle the camera differently. This newer version has a camera with "auto framing" and motion that keeps the person in the room in the center of the screen. www.amazon.com/echo-show-10/dp/B07VHZ41L8/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2BF8D7ZVDV0GZ&keywords=echo+show+10&qid=1645193549&sprefix=echo+show+10+%2Cspecialty-aps%2C186&sr=8-1

It also works on a Fire TV Cube with an external camera that you can manually point the camera at a good spot for someone on the couch.

I have a fiberglass shower enclosure with a very smooth finish and I found this grab bar works very well. I like to use a shower chair so getting up required something like this bar to assist. I try not to put my full weight on it as mentioned in the video. It's been in use for about 2 months and has not come loose. I've yet to reset the suction but I think that's probably a good idea. Note: whatever surface you use make sure it is very clean. If you cannot align the suction cups so that they do not cross a grout line you consider installing it at an angle so that both suction cups align fully on a tile.

If people are good at tech, they simply must be in the contacts list. Generally speaking you cant drop in, just call. Drop in is a feature from the app (phone) to the device. However calling works, and its a great way for people who can't dial anymore or don't want to.
