Your great at explaining it in your own way like I will go too other tutorial videos but they explain it in such a clear but hah I don't know haha, but like for example "Imagine how Blind Willy Johnson sings you know how he has that real raspy voice" and do it through the back of your throat, love it!

I hope ones you will play your own style inspired by Jason and others but to play just like him there is no need. He uses 7 overdraw quite a lot and 5 overblow as a passing tone to 6 overblow sometimes too

Very true I'm still trying to find my identity. And when I recorded this I didn't know about the 5 overblow or 7 overdraw at all lol. I use the 5 overblow a good amount in my playing now as well mainly the same way Jason does. For example when I go 2 2' 2" and then I could go 6b 5ob 5d

From what i can hear it is hard to play in pitch with U-blocking, i don`t know maybe it is just me hearing it
@littledre
@littledre 16 күн бұрын
that is for bend notes and overblows
@JamesBellowinIV
@JamesBellowinIV 16 күн бұрын
That definitely could be the case. I don't have a good ear to tell myself but I do still struggle with all of the 3 bends. I think it's the fact I'm doing small adjustments with my throat to bend which makes it harder to get those clean crisp bends and overblows. Maybe if I hold a bend note I should switch to lip pursing? I'm not too sure let me know what you think.
@littledre
@littledre 16 күн бұрын
@@JamesBellowinIV try to compensate that with vibrato, it can hide the pitch issues it on bend notes. But the best way is to work with a tuner or another instrument to corect the pitch.

They can bend really well, with some adjusting they overblow just fine. They are really good in my opinion, better than the kongshengs "benders" model in my opinion. If you ever buy more of them i recommend against buying the model with the black cober plates, since its a weid paint and not smooth in the mouth, the blue cover plates are way smoother. Here in Brazil that one costs 1/3 of a marine band, comes in handy to get those halfstep tunings. I use my C easttop as the harmonica i keep in my car so i always have one wherever i go 😂
@JamesBellowinIV
@JamesBellowinIV 28 күн бұрын
Thanks for the advice I'll make sure to remember that. And that's the best thing about Easttops is the price you don't have to break the bank getting one.
@5StringRob
@5StringRob 25 күн бұрын
Same here in Canada! People often say the Easttop is half the price of the Hohner Special 20, but where I'm, the 20 is 3 times more than what I pay for an easttop online. When I started playing, I got a Special 20 C, one Easttop to try, and then several more eastops. I'm still very much a newbie, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but the Easttop is at least worth trying.

@@JamesBellowinIV yeah, the assassin is one of their expensive models. They make one called gentle monster that is like 35 usd. It is a typical sandwich style harp like the marine band, but I've only heard good things about it. Though, I guess at that price it is starting to get into tge mid range price point. There's also a cheaper JDR ninja, though. We live in a good tine to be harmonica players. There's tons of options out there

I love these harps! One of the only cheap options. It’s funny you mentioned you got Eb cuz I’m about to get one of these in Eb and Ab. I don’t have those keys but I don’t wanna buy a hohner in a key that I won’t use much. But what’s great is for the price of one marine band you can pretty much get 2 of these, and they play well enough.
