@@Raul-m4f if the soil feels heavy then it’s probably got a lot of clay in it, alternatively if it feels light and airy then it may have a lot of loam which is usually better for a wider range of plants.

What is the purpose of this video?
@EatwithEddie6 ай бұрын
Hi Alan, it was purely experimental, 1. To see if the cordyline cuttings would take (which they didn’t) 2. Re structuring the layout of the garden and re-using the tree mallows to create a head start for the other plants to grow round. I’ve actually changed the layout once again, I will be vlogging the new layout very soon documenting what is popping up.

I was going in search of the question: should i prune my stephanotis or not. My mom who had gorgeous specimens says not. Other youtubers say yes. I've repotted and rewound the vines on mine as soon as the first buds fell down after getting it from the shop. It flowered beautifully least year (second year i've had it) but it hasnt flowered as much this year. Now there's basically every reason under the sun for why these dont flower but what i've done for mine is i've bought 2 big bamboo arches and placed them in an X shape to male sort of a dome which the vines can climb on and it's growing beautifully and stable. No falling down no faffing about. Would love to see an update on how yours are doing

Thank you for your message, I’m sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately I don’t have these plants any more. I had to downscale massively as I’d got too many plants to look after. I wish you all the best with your plant journey.

I just don't think the rue likes the plastic elemental of the pot. Thank you for sharing and for returning it to the earth.

Thanks! I've never tried corn in clay but hands are tied so this gives me hope. I'm planting 200 or so. That way, they have a good chance for pollinating. We shall see. New sub from Idaho extending blessings over your garden this year!

The rue plant is looking great, we had quite a cold winter but the ‘make do wall’ worked wonders. I will be doing an update soon, thanks for the comment!

So clay soil is red so does that mean my soil is beyond clay and is cement lol I can only break through it with pickaxe and its kinda shiny and it is grayish
@Eddies-Yard Жыл бұрын
Hi Crystal, thanks for the comment. Are you in a city, there’s many reasons that your soil could be greyish. I could definitely look into it, if I had more info!

@@Eddies-Yard no it is a small town called armona 45 minutes away from Fresno im very new to this gardening i just wanted to be more self-sufficient and I've been trying to learn raised beds method i went an purchase alot of soil but I have no clue my ground sometimes it feels like im hitting cement and that is with a pickaxe
@Eddies-Yard Жыл бұрын
@@crystalo3550 I think a good approach for you would be to build top soil with culinary herbs, nettles and comfrey. There’s a technique you can use called chop and drop, this will gradually build the top soil. You could then test with some deeper rooted bushes like blueberries, pomegranate and maybe some smaller fruit trees to see which ones will penetrate the lower levels of substrate that you have. As for the actual grey coloured ground you have, it sounds like natural lime, concrete is actually made from lime but roots will probably go through anyway

Like the bottom watering. Seems to keep the fungus gnats under control

I didn’t intentionally use this method for keeping the fungus gnats under control but thanks for highlighting it! I will definitely keep this in mind, thanks.

Hi. Thanks for the video. Did you manage to propagate the Stephanotis? I'm trying two methods, water and soil, yet after a month still no roots
@Eddies-Yard2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately the propagations didn’t make it, I think the Sphagnum moss was a bit to decayed. I will try again with some fresh moss as the main plants are doing well so I will be able to make some more cuttings.

@@ShaqKoyokArt I have been trying to grow Shiitake mushrooms outdoors here in the summer, I put a white bucket over them and it seemed to work in a way, this was during the heatwave over here so maybe something similar may work in the tropics.

It is unheard of today for someone to use Compost for the rare aroids. Compost works extremely well on my rare Aroids. I look forward to seeing that conservatory fill up with plants, keep it up.🐸

Thank you for the comment, I find that compost works well during the warmer months here in the UK, I do sometimes use orchid bark during the winter to help with drainage.
