If that was not a rotten egg then yes, you just wasted an entire good egg. Eat your eggs as usual just throw the shells in the garden instead of the garbage. egg shell is a source of calcium for your soil.

Waste of eggs! Use the shells in compost but eat the egg.
@crustyflatonion9595
@crustyflatonion9595 28 күн бұрын
Actually nothing is a waste, an egg is full of nutrients that replaces an expensive fertilizer here, and the egg will provide her with bigger, more flavorful, and nutritionally dense peppers. Nothing put into the garden is a waste; you just wouldn't know how much less her plant would've produced without the whole egg, but it certainly would grow faster with more nutrients. Just as a growing child, growth can certainly be stunted.

@auroraborealis1208

@@crustyflatonion9595 with the price of food it is a waste. From the look at the soil it is full of nutrients. If you have chickens and extra eggs maybe but those look like store bought. I don’t add expensive store bought fertilizer and have an incredible garden. I supplement compost food scraps/yard waste, wood ash/charcoal and make my own leaf mould over winter and occasionally add manure. My tomatoes and peppers are loaded with fruit that they bend traditional tomato cage so mine are made of rebar. Egg shells will add calcium to the soil. Nitrogen - used coffee grounds, compost, grass clippings, or companion planting such as peas or other legumes. Wood ash is get source of potassium. All these can be achieved without wasting food. When people in North America struggle with food security throwing protein in the ground is a waste.

Raw eggs carry salmonella so I would not do this. I cook the egg shells and grid them to kill the bacteria

The chance of salmonella from an egg is like 1/20,000
@erikal9594
@erikal9594 28 күн бұрын
Salmonella isn’t in the egg but can live on the outside of washed egg shells. An unwashed egg has natural antibiotic coating from the chickens bum to keep their eggs safe and healthy! So basically farm fresh eggs don’t carry salmonella as long as they are never washed. And washed eggs need refrigeration to keep the salmonella from growing ❤
