How do you set up a spinning reel for troll? Is it the same thing as a conventional 40 seconds out?
@GALLAGHERFISHING9 күн бұрын
We were chunking and casting soft plastic lures this day but if I was going to troll with a spinning reel I would put a Ron Z off the back of the boat say 100-200 feet and always have eyes on the rod

Why a spinning reel? Honest question. I haven't used one for 50 years on the salt
@GALLAGHERFISHINGАй бұрын
I target bluefin tuna a little differently then most people I do a style of fishing called “run and gun” where you basically fly up to a school of feeding tuna in a center console boat and have one shot to cast a lure into them. A conventional reel doesn’t allow me that speed to get into a feed but a spinning reel does.

Maybe it just wasn’t an albacore? It was very small for tuna that I’m used to seeing on fishing shows. Please educate me someone😅❤
@GALLAGHERFISHING3 ай бұрын
False albacore are technically not tuna they are scientifically more in the mackerel family. They are often confused with a fish called bonito which is part of the tuna family.

I do not understand what was false about that? Show look like a fish to me of the tuna variety but I have not been fishing for 40 years so maybe I’m just stupid.
