I agree man, but that thing is stuck in there good. Last time I took it out I had to lube it and use an oil filter wrench to get it out. So I've accepted it as a hazard since I only go solo once in awhile.

Great video! I fish solo most of the time myself out of Webster, NY and have the same reaction when a big one like that gets on the line. "Oh, boy, here we go" ... it's part excitement and part intimidation. Will I get this big boy into the boat.

I think we have the same boat. 1650 Rebel? Mine has a 60 Command Thrust but I can't get the thing to troll slower than 2.6mph without using bags.
@plattinumfishing
@plattinumfishing Жыл бұрын
Yep 2016 Rebel 1650. I have the regular 60 4S Merc. When I'm dragging a bunch of salmon gear it will get down to 1.8 but if I'm walleye fishing usually 1.9 - 2mph. I'll use bags when I need slower. Do you have the troll control RPM button? I've heard that will get it down a bit.
@jello7281
@jello7281 Жыл бұрын
@@plattinumfishing I'm going to look into the troll control. Either way, the bags work, they're just a pain sometimes. I use autopilot on the bow mount to steer.

@@plattinumfishing it makes things so much easier! If I troll worm harnesses for walleye, I just use the minkota and leave the main motor off. 80lb Terrova with two lithium batteries. I'd suggest lithium for the reduced weight. I had two group 27 lead acid battieres and it made the boat too bow heavy. 130lbs vs 48lbs

Hello.my friend what is the speed for trolling Yesterday I was there in the evening Around 80' deep But no luck for me
@plattinumfishing
@plattinumfishing 2 жыл бұрын
Generally between 2.4 to 2.8 mph I have the most success. There is a lot if underwater current out there so most guys have a fish hawk that will tell you the speed down at the ball. If not and your running oldschool with 10lb balls, try and keep the angle of your rigger cable slighty under 45° out from vertical (unless fishing deeper than 70ft they will start to stretch way out with blowback)

@@plattinumfishing I am Fishing from my kayak And I use the torpedos If you know what they are For down rigged, In my setup I was missing the flasher Maybe there was a problem So I'm going to try again and gonna buy some flashers and see what happened.
@plattinumfishing
@plattinumfishing 2 жыл бұрын
@@CubanoArrebato I have a 10lb torpedo. I would try to keep your speed up around 2.5mph if you can. If you see your cable stretching way back then slow down a bit. If they are hanging straight down speed it up. I only use flashers with meat and Flys. No need for a flasher if you're running spoons

Ya they run up all the major rivers in the fall. You can get them out in the lake almost year round (usually only summer on my end) and then come early fall they start running up the rivers.

For the Dipsy rod holders I'm using the brocraft 45° track mounts. You can get them off Amazon. They have an adjustable screw/knob on the bottom side which you can adjust tight to your gunnel. Then they are rock solid with no flex, great design.

I’m kinda surprised that walleye was willing to stalk for that long. (Not surprised he spit the lure that fast) Every video I’ve ever watched on walleye and they all in essence say “jig right in front of the fishes face to make walleye bite or you’re wasting time”. (I have yet to catch walleye so I’m not exactly impressed by them.) Pike, seems they’ll bite anything that moves. Feel free to educate me on walleye, nay go ahead and change my mind that they’re not F tier intelligent.
@plattinumfishing
@plattinumfishing 2 жыл бұрын
Walleye are definitely known for their tendency to be difficult to catch. Using all kinds of finess tactics to produce some light bites when the going is tough, but they can also be vicious hunters that will hit almost anything when the bite window is happening. Great lakes and big water walleye are much easier in my opinion. It requires more equipment but it's a whole other level of walleye fishing. They're big, there's more of them and they are willing to chase a bait down and crush it as seen in this video.

@@plattinumfishing went fishing this weekend with my dad and brother and the little walleye (they were silver, not dark green and seldom over 3lbs) they were going crazy for any soft plastic swim baits we had.
