I was a little kid, reading The Charlotte News every day, and seeing all the big names like Fireball, Fred Lorenzen, and Junior Johnson catching the headlines each week. Of these 3, Mr. Fred was my favorite!

I remember my very first assignment to do anything. It was a Sunday. I was just a preschooler. My mother had me pass a message to my father, who was working in his shop in our back yard. She had me repeat the message over and over to make sure I got it right. Then I walked out back to the shop and told my father: "Fred...Lorenzen...won...the...race"

Freddy was a wonderful, funny guy. He dated my aunt back in the early 60's. He would come to the house and sit me on his knee and pull the string on my bugs bunny talking toy..it drove my aunt crazy 🤣. Such a nice person!!! God bless you!

I was born in Albany and moved to Perth at age 2. My dad still had business interests in Albany and whenever we drove to Albany, I always remember seeing the Golden Fleece in Kojonup. The blue ram sign is etched in my memory as is the restaurant. Thanks for sharing this video!
