For those that dont know, one tooth change on the front sprocket is roughly equal to a change of 4 teeth on the rear. If one tooth change on the front is to much of a change then go with a two tooth change of the rear sprocket, or one tooth or three teeth its a micro adjustment to where you want the gearing.

If your petcock is going to leak, It won't leak until the carb applies vacuum to it. It is designed this way to stop fires if the hose were to break. There is no fuel flow until the engine fires and creates the vacuum.

I've riden my rear 705 on a bunch of gravel last season and never had a problem with it. Performed better than my skill level.. My favorite thing about the tire was fish tailing off the line and running through the gears until it would grip.

Have too-little slack in your clutch-cable, will cause choke to come on when turned full lock- ask me how i know. Also, there seem insufficient free play/slack by design.

If you get a chance to buy one you will be thrilled. Best canyon Carver around. Great for an in town errand run. Wanna pop the front tire up just run it to 3500 rpms and crack the throttle. Nonstop fun. Just like riding a motorcycle should be.

At about 4.00 when you say "be very very careful" as you are undoing the screw on the throttle cable assembly. If you had been using the correct JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) screwdriver - you would not have had to be so careful! There are zero "Phillips" head screws on the KLR and only JIS drivers should be used.

Jet kit is on order. If its not a noticeable, improvement I have a bike for sale. I bought a used bike so shouldn't lose anything. But talk about a let down. Only other bike I ever bought that was so, unexciting to ride was a 883 HD Sportster. I really dont see how this bike has made a following like this other than durability, it kinda sucks.

i would add a JIS screw driver set to your inventory for the phillips style screws on metric bikes are not phillips. I have done the eagle Mikes kit on my bike, as well as having a good aftermarket exhaust and removing the snorkel. a big improvement overall. I also found the plastic enricher nut to be a royal pain. i was lucky enough to have it thread in by hand and only needed a light snug with the wrench. getting it off was far worse.

I am with you 100%. Right now I'm leaning towards Shenko 244s. I believe I had Kenda Big Blocks on my last KLR and small knobs at different times. In rain on road I felt like a fat man on ice with the Big Blocks. My current 2018 KLR came with Mitas MC24 invaders which is basically a highend Shenko 705. When I wear them out I will probably buy Shenko 244s. In Florida sand is everywhere, so I need a tire that gives a low skill offroad rider like myself as much advantage as I can get without ruining onroad performance. I will say the Mitas tires are very good at highway speeds. I can cruise 85mph-90mph on my KLR. The fork has a brace, the fender is after market and there are other suspension mods. But, who wants to run on the Interstate all day? Cross country on US highways and back roads for 2-4 hours per day then dirt roads for 30min to 2hrs is enjoyment.

@@chadkline4268 It can go anywhere and the highway but it's not a highway long haul bike. It will do it but you will regret it. With that said nothing comes close to it in the price range. The T7 is the next step up and does everything better but is more expensive and a little heavier. I'm looking forward to seeing more on the new Honda Trans Alp

@@ScratchBabble I'm older 🤪👍 GS is $25k here. RS + F850GS are both about $16k. I'm kind of leaning to the RS, and I'll just stick off-road tires on it for long journeys on dirt roads. I am very partial to the boxer engines.
