You need to read Anti-Judaism by David Nirenberg. He has a chapter on Shakespeare. The only decent Jew in The Merchant of Venice is Jessica, she’s so good she had to convert to Christianity.

...first and foremost, I am a human being, I'm possibly the square peg that doesn't fit in to the round hole...I try to understand, believe in others and I will not restrict myself from that for the comfort of others, but I do try to have compassion and be as truthful as possible...thank you Rabbi for being here and sharing; observation from a different perspective allows one more clarity, I do so appreciate your openness...
