My country has fewer or no specialists in this area of insomnia and sleep apnea. Please help us. Many of our great young minds die from BP and i am sure this subtle ailment is the root cause.

Just did my second CPAP night last night. Nasal pillows, 5 to 15 on an airsense 11. By my morning study results, I got in 10hrs 41mins. Was a bit of a shock going from a pressure of 12.something to room air pressure when first getting up. Either way, my whole face feels more opened up than it had the last few days before starting treatment. Yesterday, after the first night, it felt really full. Now, I'm excited to see the treatment start working.

i'm dumbfounded how someone can get a test, say they had to still learn further about something they were severely struggling with health wise and yet they still resisted. and, why wouldn't we have awareness that there are several forms of something as common as sleep apnea?

How can you order CPAP without knowing what kind of apnea a person has? Talk about practicing blindly! And treating people like cattle.

Does anyone else with CSA find themselves having yawning spells that last for hours? Or had a spell of hiccups that lasted days?

My story is rather long. I've had obstructed sleep apnea for 4-5 yrs. used my CPAP religiously. Dec 2, 2022, I had ACF W/plates, screws, and bone donation. That's when things got worse. I kept reporting reporting I was constantly waking up during the night. Surgeon kept saying " everything is fine and in line". Finally after 6 month check up with the surgeon, I decided to check with my pulmonologist to see if my settings need to go higher. This was done. I was so restless, I was keeping my wife up, so I bought a second CPAP machine for our spare bedroom. I had also bought a monitor that measures O2 levels continuously through the night. This showed I was going down to the 70s. Insurance wouldn't approve oxygen because I bought the monitor on line. So I eventually got a home test done and I have O2 at 2 liters. Still restless, getting a total of 3 hrs of rest a night. No REM since surgery. I bought a second concentrator on line for spare bedroom. Friday 10-11-2024 went to a ENT surgeon. She did the scope down the nose ->no blockage and trachea working correctly. She listened to my s/s and she said " I'm sending a note and the video I just did to your pulmonologist. I think you have Central Sleep Apnea.' that is where I am now. Hope you respond back

I was misdiagnosed for 20 years. I kept telling them that I just hold my breath and it's something deeper mentally. I told them to keep raising the pressure... they said HARDLY ANYONE NEEDS IT THAT HIGH. Now I'm on a bipap... and it feels like it's too late. 😢

Brilliant information thank you. I was diagnosed with prescribed pain medication induced OSA after falling asleep while drinking of cup of coffee at the dining room table, nodding off & falling off my chair breaking my shoulder OUCH! Didn't break my favourite coffee cup though 👌😂 I also have chronic back pain due to nerve damage & fibromyalgia. I can barely sleep more than a few hours a night & that's always broken down into an hour here & an hour & half there. I find it extremely difficult & frustrating to do anything that requires focus or my full attention. It also takes me 3 times as long to do the simplest of tasks. I get so distracted & frustrated with myself. For the past 7 or 8 month I no longer want to sleep as I find it hard trying to get to sleep & stay asleep for any useful amount of time that I just don't want the upset of another night of frustration. After watching this I'm going to call my sleep clinic & get an appointment booked to see my Dr. In the meantime I'll Google the CBTi treatment that was also discussed & see if I can start implementing any of that into my routine as sleep hygiene clearly isn't working. Thanks for the info, I think having knowledge always helps me feel better as I feel more in control if I know what's going on within my body. Many thanks 😊

I only wake up gasping for a quick breath just as im falling asleep. Like the exact moment ur out. Only happens if i fall asleep on my stomach and barely happens. Maybe a handful of times a yr, if that. Some would say it's some sort of response similar to jerking as falling asleep or an anxiety issue. Its weird

This is caused by narrow palates narrow jaws and recessed jaws. All of which are caused by improper tongue posture from childhood into adulthood. CPAP is great for treating the symptoms but it is NOT a solution. The solution is expanding the palate and jaws and often MMA CCW jaw surgery that moves both jaws forward and rotates them counter clockwise

Why don’t the interpreters of the sleep studies look at all aspects of the study instead of just the AHI numbers? I’ve gone through the same issues. Clinicians saying “ oh your ahi is great.” But when I look at my numbers my central apneas were very high. Ugh!

I started getting Central Sleep Apnea symptoms after few days from changing my sleeping mattress and Pelew to a firmer ones, I also started to take antidepressants "mirtazapine 15 mg" to help me fall asleep faster, If "(the devil's in the detail) phrase is correct then I'm sure that the cause in my case is due to these changes.

I think flu and respiratory issues causes central apnea . Also when you’re sick and also stress due to regular stress topics or stress induced by too much stimulations such as watching disturbing social networks vids before sleep and etc , so your mind is like blocking respiratory process. Can anyone confirm my perception?

I was recently diagnosed with central and obstructive (mostly central) sleep apnea. I was exhausted every day but, it was the headaches that got me in to see my doctor. I was waking up multiple times a night with absolutely horrendous headaches! Did both a home and in-lab sleep study. Turns out I was having 107 episodes per hour and my lowest oxygen level during sleep lab study was 66. Apparently, it never got above 82. So now, I'm trying to get used to my ASV machine. It's been a month now. Last night and the night before were the first times I was able to sleep through the night with my mask. Oh man, does it feel good to actually sleep!! Turns out, I had severe central and obstructive apnea and was extremely hypoxic. Damn! Good thing I got checked out!! My "events" are now down to 3-8 per hour. It varies. But, far better than 107!! Mine also has oxygen added.

To suggest that someone would consider suicide because they have to much time on there hands during the night is just so damn insulting. Are you aware that for some people insomnia is a form of torture with no end in sight. This is why people consider suicide in the case of prolonged insomnia.
@Ennugia
@Ennugia 11 ай бұрын
That's exactly what it is. I feel they adjusted the results of their so called study until it fit their narrative. Chronic insomnia is an all day condition, you feel terrible day and night and could decide to "call it quits" at any time of the day. In fact I believe the most likely time to do so is early morning, after yet another unsuccessful night.

No one is going to like to hear this but vaccines can cause mini strokes. Most vaccinated people have asymmetrical faces for this reason. And/or a squinty eye. Me included. My central sleep apnea started at age 15 after I took a tetanus shot to travel abroad for a school trip. NO ONE is studying this. Bells Palsy and Ramsay Hunt Syndrome have been listed as possible vaccine side effects but that’s because it’s noticeable to the patient. Internal involuntary functions not working properly due to a mini stroke in the brain…are never even considered by doctors as a possible side effect of a vaccine’s components crossing the blood brain barrier. Any pharmaceutical that crosses into the brain could potentially cause a mini stroke.
