I started surfing as a kid in the mid 80s...no crowds. Everywhere you look now it's a bunch of tools who can barely surf wasting waves. Take me back!

Tbh it's more crowded than this. Mostly lessons and teachers pushing students into any and every wave regardless.

There are breaks all over the world that are protected by locals. It's nothing new to the surfing culture. If you hang out enough though they will eventually tolerate you in the lineup. You have to eat a lot of crow before that, but that's the same tradition those locals had to go through before they got out into the lineup. Call it hazing, bullying, or whatever, but it's just like the initiation into any club. You are worthless until you can prove you are not.

Video titles that pit people/ groups up against eachother are stupid. Plenty of space at beaches to find a wave. And people that carry on about being locals and it’s ours waves are generally idiots who peaked in High School 😂

There’s something called Etiquette, and that is: the customary code of polite behavior in society or among members of a particular profession or group. i.e. play nice.

I drink my coffee at the same bench everyday at the park. Does that mean nobody else is allowed to sit there or that I have priority to sit there? Maybe I should write my name on the bench? Maybe Its time to not behave like a 5 year old? 😂

always give way or waves to the locals in Bali, if you dont then its game on with the locals....after awhile they will let you know when to have a wave... thats my experience in Bali

Lol it's pathetic to think that you own a wave

I went on one trip they (very experienced local guides) took us to different beaches each day and the locals had placed a bunch of straight spikes in one beach because they were sick of tourists. We didn't see it until the tide went down. We didn't go to that beach again that week even though i think the guides already knew about the spikes and i suspect they were guiding us in waves that avoided them.

NOTHING to do with being ‘local’. Just respect the lineup etiquette and don’t be a twat. If you make a mistake just be cool and apologise, God knows I’ve done that enough times! And locals have always been cool with that. The issue has come with aggro foreigners in honesty
