Dang, good thing you checked those trailer hubs. Interesting that the spindle nut retainers only failed on the drivers side. Maybe they should make the spindles left hand thread like old mopar lug nuts lol

what is the die actually doing to shrink vs expand?

With shrink the dies grab the material and shove the grain together, and with stretch it is the opposite

I worked for C Cook Enterprises in Erlanger Ky. for 18-1/2 years before it closed down in 2017 when the owner Clay Cook died. We manufactured replacement parts and complete hammers for Chicago Pneumatic, Yoder and Pettingell brands. We also refurbished and manufactured replacement parts for the Pullmax power hammers.

@@CornfieldCustomsofftheclockI enjoyed working for the company. However, it could be challenging working for Clay. The company was also a car restoration, hot rod shop and machine shop. The last big project the company did was a 1937 Ford Station Wagon Woody Truck that made the great eight at the Detroit Ridler car show in 2015.
