I would just go swimming with my Apple Series 7 for a couple of years because it was supposed to be okay for swimming. I don’t do any diving or go deep in the water or anything unusual. My watch completely died and I had to buy a Series 10. I don’t plan to take this one in the pool.

Sorry to hear that man, I understand rubber breaks down overtime but given that users can't even replace the rubber seals themselves I think Apple should offer free replacements for the first 5 years, to do right by their customers!

Do you think the rubber breaks down from exposure to water or does it just eventually break down even if not exposed to water. I’m not clear if it’s a good idea to go swimming with my new Series 10 at the moment. A 2 year life span is too short for me. I took my S7 to the Apple store, but all they told me was that the logic board was dead. They wouldn’t acknowledge anything related to water even though I know that it died after a swim.

Agreed they need an ass kicking! What's insane to me is that government legislation, which is often thought of as restrictive is driving innovation: first USB-C on iPhone, then in 2027 user replaceable batteries in consumer electronics. Unless actual innovation happens between now and 2027 the greatest (recent) improvements to iPhone were the result of the EU- how crazy is that?

He was eventually able to reject the fake repair and get the other stuff fixed that was under warranty, they completely replaced the internals

80% charging limit is good but depends how you got there. You need to charge slowly and limit heat. NO wireless charging! Charge to 100% overnight using the old style tiny 5w cube charger and fast charge if needed during the day. Your battery is in fact 10% larger in reality. 100% charge is in fact 90% of the actual capacity. If you use the Mac app coconut battery to analyze your battery health, you will see this to be true. 13pro max with 500+cycles 92% health.

i charge my iPhone from 50% sometimes from 60% to 90% and unplug it before I go to bed. Is that a good thing to do?
@wackyp
@wackyp 17 күн бұрын
@@TheFlareMind It's not amount of charge or the start-end points but the speed at which you charge. Everyone wants blazing fast charging and wireless convenience but that is at the cost of your battery health and longevity. This is cold hard fact and doesn't matter what anyone says. Wireless charging is accomplished via induction... heard of an induction stove?? HEAT!! (they make wireless chargers with cooling fans now.. why? - HEAT!) I've been the guy to charge to 80% only religiously until I realized the "buffer" is built in to the battery itself (about 10%). The key is to charge slowly (to minimize heat) to 100% at night and charge as fast as you need during the day to top up. Everyone in my house uses those tiny 5w apple chargers from 10 years ago to charge overnight. Using those chargers generates ZERO heat and the charge just trickles in. In the end you need to do what works for your lifestyle and don't sweat it. Just charge slowly at night and carry on.
@thisthereal
@thisthereal 15 күн бұрын
@@wackypit is still true that lithium ion batteries don't like to be empty or full(or 90%), they like to sit at around 50%. That's why you would limit charging in the first place. Like you said, heat is another thing batteries don't like. Using a 5 watt charger or a 15 watt charger is barely gonna make a difference in longevity, if at all. iPhones already charge so slow, the heat is not enough to do noteworthy damage.
@wackyp
@wackyp 14 күн бұрын
@@thisthereal Correct. Lithium batteries don't like to be left full (and unused) and don't like to be LEFT completely empty. Heat is your number one enemy and the wattage of your charger will dictate how much heat will be generated. A good 30W charger will heat the phone up quite a bit which is what you want to avoid as your only way of charging. I only use fast chargers during the day to top up in the house and in the car. Overnight, I use the slowest method available which is the old 5w charger. Yes iphone's don't charge as fast as others but that is a different conversation. OnePlus Warp charging magically keeps the heat of charging in the charging block and doesn't heat up the phone (they were the first to do this). Other brands have two batteries so one battery doesn't heat up so much when pumped with huge wattage. It's all about heat. period. Minimize heat to maximize longevity of the battery. The industry wants to kill your battery since there's no money for them in teaching you how to make it last for a long time. I have 92% health on a 13 pro max with over 500 cycles. I would likely have more health if I practiced this charging routine since day 1. I lost the most health when I only used fast chargers. The world now drank the KoolAid regarding 80% charge limit and Apple has given them what they want. Slow charging coupled with 80% charge limit would be the absolute best but at some point you have to evaluate the longevity benefit vs the nuisance of not having a full battery. A battery charged to 100% is only 90% full since the battery is 10% larger. You already have a buffer so why sweat it. I charge to 100% without thinking about it anymore. If you have a MAC, use the app coconut battery to see the actual charge level and battery health based on the real capacity of the battery. There is lots of merit with regards to charge limit when it comes to laptops that may be used for a long time while plugged in and sitting at 100%. Here I would absolutely limit the charge to 90% and only take it to 100% when you won't be plugged in. You can use an app called Al Dente to accomplish charge limiting on a MAC. Slow charging laptops is also a good practice for the same reasons and only use fast chargers when on the go or when you have no option. Chances are very strong that these battery habits will allow your battery to last for as long as you want to keep that device without the need to replace it.

It is true though that Apple is scamming people to upgrade and I experienced it 1st hand. I enrolled to the beta program with 89% battery health and to my surprise after updating to ios 17 my battery health went down to 79% literally 2% every week. I really don't believe in battery health because I have friends with older iphones and their still at 97 to 100% and they use 3rd party chargers. 1:59 the real reason is that ip15s have just 6gb of ram and ai requires at least 8. Old M1 Macs do get ai despite having less capable processrs (according to what I heard), and somehow Samsung put many features to its old s23s and 2s, which are rather less capable than ip15s, but all of these devices have at least 8gb of ram, so that's the reason why.

Apple could easily allow older iPhones like the 14s and 15s to access Apple Intelligence through the cloud stead of on device, since they don’t have the chip set. How do I know this? I think they are trying to make a new killer device but it's not working. It needs to cost no more than an iPhone, preferably less!, and be way lighter.
