Ramhead tops on snorkels get filters in airboxes wet no matter what the doubting Thomas's say. Actually keeping water out is pretty easy, 7 inch cyclonic head on my Safari Snorkey works a real treat. Prefilter for water, dust and insects.

i didnt know rain can enter like that wow another bullshit storie.we do fitments dayle on snorkels ander never had a client complaining about water entering.since when does rain hit the snorkel directly.and yet the snorkel has a draining hole

I have my doubts that this test was conducted appropriately. The test has the water flow directed at the interceptor plate and not across the whole test area. I believe an appropriate test should have an equal amount of water spread across the whole test area as would occur in normal rain conditions, and not just directed at the plate. I suspect the deflector would have no appreciable effect in reducing the water content going into the snorkel because each cubic foot of water laden air is going to be of a consistent water density.

Thanks Super Dan, this will come in very handy because I am always driving through crowds of people pointing their garden hoses at my snorkel. Any water in the snorkel runs out of the small drain hole your air box. Some block this drain off, but you can drive through creeks with it left open & water doesn't come in through the drain, unless you get bogged mid-way across or snuff it, then water will get in. But bugger all rain comes in through the snorkel,, if any..

I have had snorkels on all my vehicles and never had a problem with water ingress. I'd like to see that contraption in a wind tunnel. My bet would be that with the airflow around the bottom edge would create a swirling effect and channel water straight down the pipe. Snorkels are designed for the purpose of clean air and keeping water out of your engine.

Turn the ram head sideways or to face away from the incoming air/rain. Will not affect performance, ram air does fuck all on 99% of vehicles.

More than once i have driven through rain so hard I had to pull over. Never once had a wet filter. So he made a shield, with flames on it, that will keep water out if you spray a hose at it while driving? You just simulated driving through a storm that dumps 80 inches of rain in under 30 minutes. Never gonna happen.

I have a snorkel on my navara and it has never had a problem even when driving into heavy rain...

not sure a hose pointed straight at the air intake is an accurate representation of a rain storm..

i just run the air intake around the other way

What does this video prove? So many variables not considered and the 'product' isn't even needed. Eg. air flow over bonnet and screen are completely different to your hose direction. Rain direction and size in relation to a moving vehicle is nothing like a hose sprayer. Air flow of engine has different volume and rate of flow than an air blower. Most air boxes are designed to separate suspended air before it is trapped in the filter. Most of any water entering a snorkel will cling to the walls and be captured in the base of the air box. Even then some water vapour into the engine is not going to cause harm. Look up Water injection.

This proves nothing. If you claims and testing were true and a snorkel really does suck half a glass of water every 30 seconds in a storm then why isnt every second 4wd with a snorkel have an flooded engine? you had a semi high pressure hose spraying directly into the face of the snorkel with force of course water will travel through. SCAM
