Robert Cassard played it on an Acoustic Guitar that he converted into an Acoustic-Electric Guitar:kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZ6kq4OaqrNkn9U. Acoustic-Electric Guitars have a really Special Sound that's different from a Standard Electric Guitar because of the added woodiness.

Rhythm is out, a joint and whisky will help fix that, also listen to Sam Cooke sing "Don't fight it, feel it" cause that's what you gotta do man, you gotta "feel it" brother not fight it.

Practice your down-strokes too and hold the chord shapes out a little more and you'll get it.
