I don't understand why people would look for a twin soul. I had never heard of it before it happened. It's incredibly painful and you feel as if you are going crazy. It's confusing, exhausting and demoralising. It's not fun.

Definitely resonates! The energy has changed lately, as you say. Not only that, but you are saying the same things as what I was told in a personal reading not so long ago, also about us meeting somewhere by synchronicity maybe a couple of years down the line. I feel much freer (after a period of mourning and sadness for what could have been and what is no more). I do want to see him again, but I don't feel the same need now. I am a quite emotionally mature person and he is not, still not after several years. His choice. I know the emotional unavailability is a big part of my trauma, and it makes sense to not wait for an emotionally unavailable person to come back anymore when I am healing that.
