2nd page, 2nd line, last measure - there's a D# for the left hand, but then it looks like you're playing a D natural on the right hand immediately after that in the same measure. Why isn't it another D#? I actually came here to figure this out because I wasn't sure which it was, and they both sound weird (even accounting for intentional dissonance).

Hello and thanks for this channel. Of all the "method books" available, which one would you recommend as a full blown (and more importantly) self-taught course for a beginner pianist. I'm currently debating between the Faber Adult, Carl Humphries and Alfred books and plan to commit to one of them. Or perhaps you'd recommend something else altogether? I play a little guitar (no formal training) and write songs but am looking for a bit of a robust music grounding, even if it is self taught. Plus your channel will surely help.

I just want to say thank you so much for this! I took a piano off the hands of my parents. We had had it since I was a child but no one every learned. They were moving and mentioned getting rid of it and I said "no way!". I've been playing about 4 months with various sources, just got this book for Christmas. Your videos have already helped me lots to understand what the book doesn't have or when I get confused.

First of all, just want to express how amazing your videos have been in helping to refresh myself on the piano; when I eventually hit a point more advanced than I used to be I imagine they'll still be helpful, but there's quite a ways to go before I get there. Also, I hope you're having a nice holiday season, I know you're taking some time off (in light of that, please take as long as you need to respond to this). I'm asking this here because it's where the problem became noticeable; one thing I have been having trouble with, technique-wise, is independent dynamics between hands. Every other aspect of hand independence I mostly have down but it's giving me some trouble to, say, play the bass-line quieter than the melody. I imagine I had that skill years ago during my first run playing the piano but it's something I've lost (though it's possible I never fully had it). Do you have any tips or exercises to practice that? I've found some here on YT that have been helpful but I was just wondering if you have any thoughts there, especially since it became quite relevant for this song.

In the 1st line, 4th measure. Why is the G played with the thumb? If i was in c major position, wouldn't that be finger 2 and not 1. I try not to read the #'s associated with notes, but just go by normal finger position. My brain just isn't understanding why I would shift my hand up 1 spot further to start and then move it back down on 2nd line 2nd measure. Hope I described it properly. Thank you for what you do.

I face difficulties in figuring out which part you are explaining until i check myself and play the notes to figure out. Please try to explain note by note..

It took me the longest time to realize what the problem was, once I practiced the sticato notes relentlessly. Then I had stop playing it in three quarter time as if it were a waltz. All of a sudden it came together after I listened to your version around a hundred times!

Sir, I am happy to know that I've been doing just as you suggested, since the begining: I first try to get the notes and play them, then compare it with the way you play it. Helps a lot. Not tired of saying thanks a lot!!.

I am really enjoying your lessons. I usually go through the piece first myself and then watch your video to get me past the sticking points. Your teaching style is actually entertaining to me. You make me laugh when you start ranting about the suggested fingerings and pedal markings in the sheet music that you quite often disagree with.

I refer to your videos when I need to hear what the song sounds like and where the fingers go, and basically the rhythm of some of these pieces that I have no clue how they are supposed to sound. Thank you for playing so well.

I still don't understand harmonization. When I was in college for the excerpt in the Key of G Major I wrote an interval B and F# for measure 2, measure 3 was G and B, measure 4 and 5 was D and B and 6 and 7 , and 8 was D and B. The last measure was G and D.

There are no shortcuts. Learning piano is not easy. You need patience, determination, a good teacher, and A LOT of practice. What I love about this teacher is that he goes right into the good stuff, without wasting time in asking you to subscribe, hitting the like button, etc. Thank you sir! (I did subscribe and hit the like button hahaha)

I don't get the benefit of the extended position at 8:15. When I tried it; it hurts my hand. At the speed I am playing (max 80 BPM), it is easier for me to move my left hand to middle C. Can you convince me I should try the extended position instead?
@LetsPlayPianoMethods
@LetsPlayPianoMethods 16 күн бұрын
It is up to you, but you need to be able to do the extended position. If your hand is hurting when you play, you might need to see a doctor. It should never hurt to play a piano.
