So, Ive had an experience of this (was in a cult) and can say that for me - I am autistic - its very much like an extreme version of autistic hyperfocus on a special interest, combined with OCD and structured around your spirituality. Obviously that could be oversimplifying it, but that was my experience. Its unbelievably scary when you dont know whats happening AND I was able to release myself from the grip of the daimon. It can be reasoned with. It may be another aspect of ourself that we cannot see. I dont really know. Not even pisitive thats what happened but it seems to be the best explanation so far.
