I've heard this dude talking about his 'purposes' to create sims games from past years and it was deeply disturbing it was never about creating something for fun but to control and watch what people does, this guy is 100% interested in your private computers stuff and what you do in gameplays, he said it himself.

Why didn’t you ask him pertinent questions about the full origins story of the different franchises and why he left or why he sold it to EA?

Second question has been answered. Pre The Sims while they had success with critics and fans, it wasn’t enough to keep the studio afloat. They met with Activision, EA, and Infograms as potential buyers. And during that time when The Sims was still “Dollhouse” EA was the only one to see a potential future in it regardless to focus group tests with players saying the idea wasn’t really exciting. They sold, EA Rep they had overseeing Maxis as a Studio Head got along well with Will and even knew his tech. However in time that person also left Maxis, I think could be misremembering, around The Sims 2 Expansions. EA wasn’t always the devil and killer of studios we’ve grown to see them now. Back then even after the Trip Hawkins era, EA was making efforts to push for more interesting games. Totally understandable that Will and the other founder of Maxis would chose to sell as they believed in simulation games could and can sell.

It's so good to know about this gaming genius in 2023-24. He truly is underrated. Sims 1 and 2 were overflowing with personality and charm, and so was SimCity 4 in a different way. Truly they made my childhood.

EA ruined many franchises. Not one of them can be saved. For example, Command & Conquer franchise was ended and Westwood Studios couldn't do anything about it

That line in the background, ''simulations are the future of AI'', make me think just how advanced simulator games can become with the recent developments in AI we've seen. Sora, ChatGPT, Diffusion, all of these and more can be such powerful tools for simulators like future Sims games. I personally found the Sims 4 to be a disappointing and cash-grabby letdown of a game, but I'm looking forward for a better game that's more like a fusion of Sims 2 and 3. Perhaps not from EA but from another developer? Who knows, I just want good games and despite the concept of advanced AI being terrifying (when it comes to fraud and whatnot, someone mentioned that scammers are now using AI to emulate your loved ones' voices from gathered data to fool you into their scams, like using your wife's voice to pretend she's had a traffic accident and requires you to send money or something), these technological advancements *can* actually be used for great things. Like with all technological advancements, it can either take us one step towards an utopia or take us a step backwards, towards a dystopia that several parts of the world are rather close to anyways. All I can do is hope for the best and do my personal best, rest is pretty much up to luck.

Sim city was one of the bigger addictions I had as far as games. SO, whats stoppin ya from doing it again? Sim city 5 sucked. I played city skyline a lot but roads are kind of annoying to build in that game because they have to be so good to function at their best and I do a decent job of all that but its still a lot of work where sim city was just fun. So the world is waiting for sim city 6, 7, 8, 900000000000. You got a never ending gold mine that you havent finished tapping.
