Nice video. Those signals are slowly being replaced from Riverton Jct. to Roanoke. PTC hardware being installed at some of the interlockings. Better photograph those signals on the H-line while you can.

The 4 car consists on the Crescent originated in Birmingham on days the Crescent did not come from New Orleans. The train ran tri weekly to from New Orleans, the other 4 days a week to from Birmingham. The Birmingham trips were cut in 1975, the year non Amtrak passenger operators could seek to join Amtrak or file with the ICC or state regulators to terminate their passenger service.

N&W #611 is off to the Buckingham Branch Railroad for their Virginia Scenic Railway. It's there now. Nice chase bro

Why do they have these dumbass diesel's hooked up the the 611. The 611 has proven again and again she can pull a line of cars on her own and get back and forth with out the aid of being pushed or pulled by a dumbass Diesel like the Big Boy has to be.

It’s because 611 is not equipped with PTC, in which only diesels have it, and she can’t run on her own. That’s why she was being pulled by a diesel. PTC is basically a safety measure in trains to prevent accidents involving signals However the VMT has considered putting PTC on 611.

Curious as to why 611's consist had to be separated in order to be picked up by BB15. The order of cars didn't appear to change.

Roads are all paved and well marked. But remember Goshen is a very remote place. Have a full tank of gas.

If these excursions are going to be regular things, I hope Buckingham Branch can built some turning facilities and passenger equipment servicing facilities. Their regular excursion train is literally just one car and a diesel, and this is a lot more substantial than that.

It’s hilarious how railfans haven’t changed over the years!! They got in this shot of 722 and you can watch any steam locomotive video on KZbin and you will see foamers getting in someone’s shot. As long as they get their shots they could care less about ruining your pictures or videos.
