@@liveplantbaseddaily Even though I don’t feed my dog vegan, learning about it has taught me something about feeding my dogs. Plant foods can be digested and nutrients absorbed better than I had previously believed. I have stopped omitting things from their diet I previously believed served no useful purpose. I also don’t feed rotational mono feeding, but no longer freak out if my dog wants to skip a meal on occasion.

Dogs are omnivores and mainly eat meat protein so should be fed properly and not a vegan diet, dogs got teeth that are designed to kill other animals to eat, you will never see a dingo eating the farmers cabbage patch but you will see them hunting and killing the farmers sheep as that’s food to them… If I was to feed a rabbit canned dogs meat I will be called cruel etc but that is exactly what vegans are to their dogs feeding them veggies and it’s not a diet for them.

My first time sewing these I treated them like leaks and was after the stem and heart and didn't eat the leaves. Now I eat the leaves and on the artichoke I eat the delicate leaves rhat are soft and young and the more mature leaves I am eat the soft base. Glad I saw your video using the stems so I knew I wasn't nuts. I only see the hearts in stores in jars so never really knew.

I'm curious to know - when you first transitioned your two dogs over to Mrs Plant's cooked, Vegan dog food - did it give them gas or bloating? Any farting, or diarrhea? Anything?

I had a recipe ( I don't remember the name. ) that the black beans had onion, garlic and smoky peppers that the beans were cooked in with chicken broth. Cinnamon sticks, bay leaves, cloves, cardomon, a couple allspice, coriander, nutmeg and ginger together in a spice bag and added to the beans while they cook. When the beans were done they were drained and the reserved broth was boiled and reduced to resemble a gravy. Coconut milk, pineapple and whatever juice from the mango's was added and the beans returned to the pot. Fresh pineapple, shredded coconut and diced mango was added to the beans. It was served over rice with cilantro sprinkled generously over top. I've searched for the recipe many times yet was never successful. Now I estimate the amounts. Pepper flakes and expresso or cocoa are a possible addition also. It was very rich and flavorful.

The blackened ends mean it has sat in cold storage. It is not fresh. I live in Artichoke country. If you use a bread knife, you can cut through the top really easy. Use a pair of scissors to trim off the spikes and you'll have leaves that you can grab without getting poked.

I bought a 4 pack of globe artichokes yesterday at TJ's, then I picked up a huge artichoke at another local market to see the difference. Today I'll be cooking the large one in my instant pot. I had no idea you could eat the stem, but I'll be trying that one today. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much!!!! I will try this receipt. All my dogs and cats have been vegan. I also feed my puppy a lot of raw food. As I am juicing for me I take a pulp of carrots, apples, red beets, pineapple and kale or spinach, add peanut butter, cinnamon and chia seeds to it. But I also always add a little bit of flex seed oil or olive oil to it when I will not put peanut butter. In the morning I shred a sweet potato and an apple, add chia seeds or sesame seeds also peanut butter or oil. My puppy is super fast, has so much energy and fun!
