There are all kinds of small midges but mine was a simple grayish #22 thread midge. Gray body with a black thread head with black ribbing. Tied on a 2487 tmc hook.

Amazing to capture these record trout in their natural habitat. Taneycomo is a phenomenal fishery. We are very lucky to have it.

Beaver Lake as of May 12 is 4ft above power pool and they are not releasing much water from Beaver so I would think they will keep the gates open for a while at TRL . Enjoyed the video Phil .
@PhilLilley6 ай бұрын
I wish... they are off this afternoon. They always hold Beaver... not sure why. They won't release it till June or July, at least that's what they've done in the past.

Look at the mammatus clouds building right in the first shot. You can see that a storm is coming.

Just a comment if you don’t mind, been fishing Taneycomo over 30 years. Bumping along and then no bumps means a hole, and Trout like sitting in those holes. Lowering the rod tip lowers bait into the hole, and BAM, fish on! Thanks.

I like that area.. was in an aluminum boat one time and the back current started pulling me towards the dam ... that sucked . But it's a darn good spot for sure
@Ace.Fisher10 ай бұрын
When I read taneycomo regulations on mdc website they say using soft plastics near the dam is prohibited, by that do they mean power bait or any kind of soft plastics including jigs?
@PhilLilley10 ай бұрын
Yes. Any bait or Lure that’s soft. Soft plastic.

People may doubt using that light of line but let me tell you....these big trout especially steelhead are extremely line shy and if you play the fish right and have good gear you can land them on light line.
