Unfortunately the explanation how digital actually works (painting vs mosaic etc) is wrong and misleading. Whoever made this video should familiarize him/herself with the mathematical theorems behind sampling and what follows from them. It will be far from the intuitive (but wrong) and simplissistic conclusions presented in this video.

Thank you for your feedback! I appreciate your point about the importance of understanding the mathematical foundations behind digital sampling and representation. This video aimed to simplify the concept for viewers who may not be familiar with complex mathematical theorems, but I understand that this simplification might feel misleading for those with a deeper background in the topic. My view is ,it's the sound of analog I prefer, due to the harmonic distortion and nuances in cumulative track counts,is very pleasing to the ear.thx

Very good job. None of the fluff seen in most "informational" videos

I'm pretty sure they did record vocals twice, in many cases, and sometimes John and Paul would sing in unison. Popular in the day was "sound-on-sound", but I don't believe the Beatles ever used it.

I think it was time constraints, mainly,Lennon in particular didn't like the process of overdubbing,.Also in part the limitations of tracks on recorders available.Which, however increased in time.

The genius of George Martin.

It was more George Martin and his engineers taking direction from the Beatles´ verbal descriptions of how they wanted something to sound than the actual Beatles doing it. Paul was the most tech-savvy of the four and most likely the only one who had genuine hands-on experience in the workings of the studio.

Totally agree ,with limited tech it was a collaborative effort, producer have it easy nowadays, with unlimited tracks etc.The irony is there are now software emulations of the equipment they were using then.ie studer tape,UAD Redd 17 and 37 and TG 12345 desks Waves emulations. The willing and desire to experiment was a big part of it.😊

It’s known for adding a distinct character and musical vibe to mixes. Key Features: Accurate emulation of the Motown EQ curves, featuring separate bass and treble controls with fixed frequencies that mirror the original gear. 2. Waves J37 Tape Overview: This plugin emulates the iconic Studer J37 tape machine, which was a staple at many recording studios, including those used by Motown engineers. It offers a rich, warm sound characteristic of analog tape. Key Features: Includes adjustable tape speed, saturation, and wow & flutter controls to fine-tune the analog tape effect. IK Multimedia T-RackS Vintage Compressor Model 670 Overview: This plugin is modeled after the Fairchild 670 compressor, known for its use in classic recordings of the 60s and 70s, including those from Motown. Key Features: Provides smooth, musical compression that can add depth and warmth to your tracks. 5. Slate Digital Virtual Tape Machines Overview: This plugin models the sound of two popular tape machines: the 2-inch 16-track and the half-inch stereo mastering deck. It's great for adding that analog tape feel to your mixes. Key Features: Includes adjustable tape speed, tape type, and noise reduction settings. 6. UAD Studer A800 Multichannel Tape Recorder Overview: Another Universal Audio plugin, this one emulates the Studer A800 tape machine, which was widely used in the 70s and 80s, including at Motown. Universal Audio Capitol Chambers Overview: This plugin provides an emulation of the Capitol Records echo chambers, which have a similar lush and expansive quality to the reverbs used in Motown recordings. Key Features: Multiple chamber options, mic position adjustments, and the ability to shape the decay and frequency response of the reverb. 2. Waves Abbey Road Chambers Overview: While this plugin models the reverb chambers of Abbey Road, it offers a rich, vintage-style reverb that can be tweaked to suit the Motown sound. Key Features: Control over microphone placement, reverb decay, and a variety of vintage emulation options. 3. Soundtoys Little Plate Overview: A faithful recreation of the classic EMT 140 plate reverb, which was widely used in the 1960s, including in Motown studios. I use UAD’s Hitsville plugins and they’re fabulous. I especially like the Mastering desk and the attic reverb chamber (which this video doesn’t mention). Explore the presets!
