Thanks for a great review!! I was all set to buy a Honda XR150L as my first ever bike, but (even though it's still listed on the "learner approved list") Australia have done the same thing over emissions standards and will NOT allow new registration. I'm going to check if they still allow "primary producer" registration - as a sheep farmer I'd be entitled to it. Looks like the Yamaha AG200 would be a better fit for the farm than the Honda, but the Honda might be a better "all round" / dual purpose learners bike. In Australia, "primary producer" registration means you can still drive (ride) anywhere / anytime (go shopping, go on holidays, etc), but NOT use the vehicle for "commerce" (e.g. working as a delivery driver for Amazon on the side). I'll look into it further. The good news is with the block on normal registration the price of the Honda XR150L has dropped from $4,898 AUD to (clearance) $3,700. Looks like the AG200 is available, dealer price seems to be around $6,500 AUD. I think the IDEAL bike would be something I could ride on road (preferably capable of near 100 km/h), and have LOW RANGE gears for crawling up steep hills on the farm.
@agventures100129 күн бұрын
@@OhSoddit The Ag 200 would be a little too slow for your needs. Its only good up to about 60kph. The gearing is very low on the AG200.

I love the low gearing which helps me climb steep mountains here. The engine is said to be bullerproof like you said and being an ancient design, it is a gas guzzler (almost 5l per 100km). In that regard the Chinese made Honda XR190L may be a better option with its incredible fuel efficiency and slightly bigger tank. But I suspect the fuel efficiency might have sacrificed low gearing. Do you know if the gearing is high on the Honda?

Excellent video! I see the little lever on the clutch only being used for emergencies, 'cause as a beginner rider instructor, I train beginner riders to gear down before coming to a stop and engaging neutral just before stopping, in order to free one's hands when stopped. Also, what's the point of stopping in the wrong gear and then trying to pull off immediately after disengaging that little lever? I think a Honda XR150 with one or two teeth smaller front sprocket and some bark-busters, will be a good farm & street-legal alternative, besides the beginner training and every day commuter bike that mine is used for. Mine gets 40km/L, with above mentioned lower gearing. The AG sure has some nifty features, especially that enclosed chain-guard.

@@DaveZee01 I was all set to buy a Honda XR150L as my first ever bike, but (In Australia) they've put a block on new registration (it's still listed on the "learner approved list"). Plenty of reviews I've seen mention the smaller front sprocket (and "knobby" tyres) for better off-road use. Looks like the AG200 would be a better farm bike, but I'd be looking for something I could LEARN to ride on the road, ride in and out of town occasionally, and have the "excuse" for buying it to round up the sheep on the farm :)
@DaveZee0129 күн бұрын
@OhSoddit I hope you come right with that loophole re the XR150. I think it'll be the more versatile, economical and less expensive choice. Also, perhaps better you get used to the more conventional 1 down, 4 up gear configuration, as opposed to the AG's N(eutral) at the bottom, 5 up. The AG's definitely more farm-specific than the XR, but after owning both, I prefer the XR. I've attached the link to the AG, showing my BEFORE and AFTER refurbishment job. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5_Jk4qVerSAhcksi=vYpDa6t9eerHxAfZ

Hi there. Saw many crf300l's videos and you are one of the few who points out that issue with throttle beeing hard to controll in low gears. I am in no way expirienced rider, just rode manual 50cc in past but today i drove my new crf300l to get it registered for some 2 km and found out the same issue with the throttle you are pointing out, and I thought it was me not used to throttle... Density altitudes in summer 6500’ SportCopter sells to many Australian cattle stations. SportCopter has a full castor nosewheel so less problem with landing a little crabbed.

Baie nice video. Insiggewend. Nog altyd nuuskierig. Hoe vergelyk n gyro in Turbulensie teenoor n ligte sport vliegtuig? As hy goed is in hoë wind behoort hy turbulensie soos n champ te vat. Want warm dae hier in Suid Afrika is darm maar glad nie lekker in n ligte vaste vlerk nie.
@agventures10012 жыл бұрын

I did do and pass my academic helicopter 🚁 license, but did not proceed to the practical qualification since I don't feel comfortable in air turbulence and especially air pockets. ( over and above the cost of ownership). What is the feeling and reaction of the gyro in air pocket conditions? Maybe a gyro is an option again. Second question: many speak of safety. A client of mine was 1 of 7 friends who owned gyros. 5 was killed in accidents, so my client sold his. I also had an insurance broker friend who owned one, and had 3 accidents - but that is much attributable to pilot error. Can gyros then really be said to be safe with such statistics?
@agventures10012 жыл бұрын
Hi Gerrit. Hoe gaan dit? Thanks for commenting...😀 If you dont feel comfortable in turbulance its best you dont fly😅. Gyros do handle turbulance very well though. I find it hard to believe the story of 5 out of 7 friends being killed in gyro accidents. Are you sure? But I suppose its possible . But I wont blame it on the gyro. Gyros are safe; period... Its human error and sometimes stupidity in most cases that cause accidents. As the saying goes: You get old pilots and you get bold pilots. But you dont get old bold pilots😄

Hi @@agventures1001 , Dit gaan goed dankie. Is ek seker van die 5 uit 7 gyro sterftes? Kan nooit seker wees van hoorsê getuienis nie. Dankie vir die advies van "bly eerder weg van turbulensie". 😊

@agventures10013 жыл бұрын
Hi, I have not experienced that, but it might be a good idea to recenter the gimbal every now and then. I think it also depend on what mode you use. There are 3 modes, : Follow mode, FPV and Tilt lock. Tilt lock works best in my opinion. That way the horizon stays level.

I used the Osmo Pocket and also the Pocket 2 for filming out of the car during my travels - also in SA by the way 😉 I discovered on the Osmo Pocket, that the Gimbal moves to the outside but I linked that to higher speeds (and the headwind starting to twist the Gimbal). I feel it is better with the Pocket 2 - maybe because of stronger motors that keep the Gimbal in place? But for sure I won‘t drive 250 with a Gimbal on my bike - this won‘t work. I can test this after Winter is gone…

Awesome video. I've got the manual 1100. Just dropping the bike has not yet caused any damage apart from a few scratched, but the wheelie control killed the power on an uphill once and I ended up not having enough momentum, which ended up in broken mirrors, bent handlebar, bent foot pegs, couple of large scratches and a few loose covers. I made some crash bars in the garage because of it. Apart from the TC and WC kicking in every time you restart the bike, I'm very happy with it.
