Good job man! Looks good so I been looking at same company to do my counters outside. How’s it held up?? And are you still happy with them?

Hey yea I was super happy with the company and the product. I just made the mistake of ordering the wrong size clips and didn’t want to wait for replacements. Overall very pleased with

I purchased the plans from backyardflare. I think it was $30-$40. Included is a list of supplies and estimated cost. Obviously overall cost depends on finishes, additional labor, etc. I highly advise purchasing the plans as he included tips and tricks and is also a great resource for any questions you might have. Happy building

Hi. I'm using the same cement boards to cover where I removed an exterior door. Question. Do I have to use thinset for the tape mesh and also to cover the whole boards or do I need a different product? Thank you
@WinnyDaddyDIYАй бұрын
Hey I'd probably consult with a contractor haha. Depending on where your door is you want to make sure you insulate, flash, and create a vapor barrier to keep moisture out. I'm not aware of cement board being used for this type of application. Good luck!

For sure. Started filming progress after framing was finished. There is a little bit on framing/cement board in the first outdoor kitchen video 🤙. I was able to find a couple other framing/kitchen videos here on KZbin.

Great work! Man! Way to show the real hard work that is involved when doing a project like this. I had to admit that at first, I thought that the mantel would cause problems with time, but it looked solid. Do you have a list of materials and estimated cost? Thank you!
@WinnyDaddyDIY3 ай бұрын
Appreciate it. Yea not gonna lie, this was one of my most challenging and labor intensive projects haha. Checkout backyardflare.com for fireplace plans and material list w estimate cost. Not including the stucco labor, materials all in was about $1500-1800. Depends on the finishes you want.

@@WinnyDaddyDIY Which design from backyard flare did you choose? Also, curious to know if you put fire brick on the top of the inside?

Don’t need too much to get a good bond. Also adheres quickly. Was tired of using mortar by the end of this project haha.

Is there a rule on the firebox size & how tall the chimney should be for it to draw properly?

That's a 32" fire box. That will take alot of wood to make a descent fire in it. I'm thinking of building a smaller version of it instead. I think 24" wide by 20 high will be plenty for what I want on the patio.
@lionsmane44684 ай бұрын
I could be worng but isnt it a 48" wide fire box. Since each cinder block is 16", with 3 wide would be 48?
@PainterD544 ай бұрын
@@lionsmane4468 perhaps, but still way too big for my taste.
@WinnyDaddyDIY4 ай бұрын
Yea definitely big if you’re planning on burning wood. I went with the gas HBurner and it puts out some good heat with the lava rock. Wanted lower maintenance with the same effect. Good luck on your project!
@dwayned.52383 ай бұрын
Another dad on KZbin put the gas in as a starter for his wood burning fireplace that was 43”. It put out the heat he was looking for. I’d love this sort if thing running a heat exchanger through it and under some built in seats or the patio floor.

Hey! I was debating what to do as well. Ended up putting a little stucco sloping away from the chimney so water runs off. I’m also planning on putting a spark arrester similar size of the opening to prevent water or anything else from going down chimney. Final video will be coming soon!
