I'm glad you got your truck back in the family. Where is your Georgian accent? Trucks looks kind of solid and a good truck for restoration. Like the wine bottle idea. I so agree with the 'keep it original' idea. So many trucks of this era that cost like $50,000 to $75,000 have 350 v8's automatic transmissions, weird instrument panels, ac. totally not original. Why have a vintage truck, that is not vintage?
@freshonerestorationfabrica42983 ай бұрын
@kfl611 I just want to keep this one simple. I have 4 other builds in progress and know how fast you can go down the rabbit hole with time and money. The 6cyl runs great, no reason to change it. I want it like I remember as a kid, just a Sunday afternoon truck with the family. As for the accent? 24 years in the south and it's never caught on. Lol
@misters28374 ай бұрын
Most People DO NOT Understand that not only does it get further back from the truck, but a longer tongue generally makes less sway, and generally gives less tongue weight (even though you tripled its thickness) - You usually get less weight on ball...makes the ball to fulcrum (axle group) longer.

@freshonerestorationfabrica42984 ай бұрын
@claytonseitz9757 never really kept track but I would say about a 1000. There's 400 just in the seats and mounts and the marine plywood was 100 a sheet at the time. Carpet,glue,foam,wiring,led's ect. Maybe 8 or 900.

Hey brother great video! I just bought a 1986 bass tracker with original trailer. I only have a bill of sale as previous owner didn't need to title trailer in SC. I can't locate a VIN number label or stamp on this trailer. Would you happen to have any idea as to were the stamped numbers could be hiding? Great looking boat you have!
@freshonerestorationfabrica42987 ай бұрын
I sanded and painted this entirely trailer and never found a number. From what I've been told, Tracker used a sticker back then and none of them survived 38 + years. I'm working on a solution.

@freshonerestorationfabrica4298 I'm hoping I can apply for a new title.... just paid boat title and registration fees and I'm realizing I'm probably screwed with the bill of sale and no verifiable VIN number for trailer!!
@freshonerestorationfabrica42987 ай бұрын
As for the title thing, I'm in GA, one thing you can do here is tell them its a home made trailer and they will send a sheriff out to look at and make sure it's road worthy and meets requirements. Officer will sign off on it and you bring that paper work to them, they then issue you an aluminum tag with a Vin # and paper work. I've done it with two other trailers. They're not super critical here and are really just in it for the tax revenue. Where are you in Carolina?
@darrellmedley68097 ай бұрын
I would recommend investing in triple lip seals and hubs that have the zirk fitting. The hubs allow you to repack hubs without taking the hubs off the trailer. You can see the old grease being pushed out and getting replaced with fresh grease. I had to replace my axle so my axle has a zirk fitting for grease as well as my hubs.
@freshonerestorationfabrica42987 ай бұрын
@@darrellmedley6809 yezzzzir. These hubs have bearing buddies on them with the zerk fitting and are fully packed with high temp marine grease. She's good to go.

I know guys who have built boxes like bottom 2 and 3 bay, they'd rather buy one than build another. It's a bunch of work and material isn't cheap. But I applaud your enthusiasm. Lol 😆
@youtubecritic43609 ай бұрын
It's tough work. I have 6 diffrent craftsman 26" bottom boxs. I have 4 on the bottom and 2 have the casters cut off stacked on the outer two boxs. I made a wood work bench between them two and have a homemade "hutch if you will holding led lights above the bench and also holds my power strips. All the bottom boxs have the casters removed and the boxs are fit together and held tightly in a custom L shaped frame made from old bed frames. I then put 6" casters 2 on the left 2 in the middle and 2 on the right side. Then at the bottom. Of each box for extra support their bolted together with two small bolts in each one. All together the box is 104" long 52" tall and is great. You can find cheap 26" boxs and free metal bed frames and you can build awesome boxs for cheap. I did the same before with 5 26" craftsman boxs re frames the bottom with old bed frames, wrapped the entire box in black vinyl and painted the old silver part on each drawer purple. That one cost me I think about $250 to build. I ended up posting it online and sold it for $1400 that's the best amd cheapest way to get yourself a solid nice box for next to nothing.

Between the initial buy price, then all parts and labor he ended up being around 37k. Which isn't bad for a completely rust free, frame off build with everything better than original.
