Interesting, there is no pre-cast segments lining for this kind of tunnelling method?
@TheRobbinsCo2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your question. That's correct, Main Beam (aka Open Type) machines are in most cases not used with a tunnel lining. We have provided Main Beam TBMs where invert segments are placed behind the machine, or a concrete floor is poured behind the machine. We have also used steel plate liners with our Main Beams. Check out more info here: www.robbinstbm.com/products/tunnel-boring-machines/main-beam/

Can this machine works vertical position if yes how to work. Please explain
@TheRobbinsCo2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. These machines are not set up to bore vertically. However we do have small diameter machines that can bore at angles up to 45 degrees. For more info check out this link: www.robbinstbm.com/norway-hydropower/

I think elon musk knows more about building tunnels than anyone else, he could have built the tunnel at least 10 times cheaper and faster using cgi.

Such a shame that due to the costs, nations would choose the slower 2-5 ft per hour drilling-rate TBM over the Main Beam, which could drill out more than 30 ft per hour. And with such a fast TBM, and with GPS, and two TBMs able to start at both ends and each only having to complete half the tunnel before the drilling is complete, extreme long tunnels, such as one that would link Ireland and England, would take only a matter of years to drill. And while the water is extremely deep where such tunnels had been proposed, such as from Ireland to England (500+ ft, well a bored tunnel in Norway extends 940 ft below sea level. So a tunnel from Ireland to England is achievable.

I was the operator on this video and that head was outstanding in all the holes i punched with it. In all i think i made 5 42" bores probably 600 ft and had 0 problems aside from undesired cover depths in one bores plans and no head will stay down when the top is thin or running out of the rock. No problem shoving 20'and having the next 20' ready for boring in 10 hr
