If the university wants to play at being a landlord, it needs to respect students' rights.

I hate Jefferson because of his terrible ideas. His ideals WERE bad. Not because of any of the modern social justice hogwash. No. He was an amazing man with awful ideas. A nation of Yeoman farmers? Anti Industry? Anti Bank? anti Trade? The federalists and the Hamiltonians won in the end as was the wish of our nation's foremost father George Washington.

Seemingly, they're all on the same team, pretending to be adversarial to control the narrative on both sides of a single narrowly-kept discussion. As one side asserts a thing that is not credible, the supposed adversary allows it to go uncontested, as if to confirm it by omission. As with Mr. Ellis' assertion that both the congress and our state department have officially concluded that BDS is anti-Semitic, versus, just some members of those bodies reaching that conclusion, in the absence of their organizational consensus. There is no need to have these alleged incidents of anti-Semitism dealt with in secrecy, behind closed doors, for the purposes of student safety. All that would need to be done is to change the student name to a generic label for the purposes of public anonymity. Otherwise, the alleged anti-Semites already realize the names of their alleged protected-class victims. That Bert Ellis wouldn't raise this as an obvious circumstance tends to show that he is not intending to defend his position accurately. As well, you seem to have chosen Bert Ellis to make this case so that he would seem somewhat too old to be as sharp as necessary, thereby, supposing that his failures stem from incompetence versus intent. If there is a huge problem with anti-Semitism, I would like to have a record of those instances which lead Mr. Ellis to that definitive conclusion. I would think that those creating that anti-Semitism should have the opportunity to defend themselves from such accusations and we as the public should have an opportunity to hear about the exact instances of this anti-Semitism, including, the names of those being accused of this, so that we as the public can decide as well if those accusations are credible, as well as to be made aware of where these dangerous people are so that we can keep an eye on them, so they don't run amuck in privacy. Keeping the names of those you are accusing as anti-Semites secret, makes this board complicit in obscuring their roles in any future activity they may be planning. I feel that there is also the strong chance that these incidents of anti-Semitism are being staged for the purposes of subversion, and the methodology that this board is using seems to be exactly what would be needed to attempt to obscure its complicity to this. I feel that this board wrote the script for this meeting behind closed doors and that this soap-opera is a dog and pony show for the rest of us. Secrecy is your secret-weapon. Say it ain't so!

As well, for the purposes of distraction, seemingly, Dr. Stephen P. Long, M.D., International Man Of Distinction, is distinguishing himself as somewhat of a hypnotist's watch by attempting to distract the audience of this video with a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos during an important discussion that he is completely ignoring. Hence, the dog and pony aspect of these proceedings. Horribilis!

As well, how would this currently sitting board of visitors explain the apparently unethical and allegedly criminal nature of the UVa Bookstore competing directly with private commercial enterprise, like Mincer's, in the apparel and gift retail industry, while being supported in doing so with public funding? Anderson Brothers Bookstore is no more because of that practice, and the UVa Foundation has now taken ownership of that building with this kind of tactic. Also, RIP Mark Mincer, aged 60. #LitteringAnd...

To make an accusation against the university because of uncited and unsupported "[suspicions]" brought to you by uncited and unsupported "people [you're] in contact with" is bad journalism. To draw comparisons between two events which you yourself admit were handled allegedly the same is bad journalism. To conclude that the opinion of Donovan Golich is representative of that of UVA Administration, despite you yourself admitting that Donovan Golich no longer works for the university, is bad journalism. To talk about the potential punishments for this student, including in your own words, the loss of scholarships, Honor charges, Student Judiciary charges, and a ban from grounds, as evidence for for the University's "hardball" stance on fraternities compared to student protestors, all while not mentioning that student protestors actively face or have faced these exact same consequences, is bad journalism. This is bad journalism. The Theta Chi member who faced this unfair aggression deserves to be reported on better than this. Do bettter.

Notice in her “abbreviated” 10+ minute summary of the Religious Diversity Task Force report Dean Acampora does not mention the resignation of her former co-chair, Professor Oludamini Ogunnaike. He has proclaimed that Christianity perpetuates white supremacy and colonizes “oppressed” people of color. Since its formation, the Religious Diversity Task Force had done NOTHING to stem the virulent anti-Semitism that UVA Jewish students have experienced on Grounds. Objectively, it has been an abysmal failure. Talk is cheap. Actions matter.

The Eugenics Movement bears a striking resemblance to Critical Race Theory. An academic movement used to justify using violence against honest, peaceful people. The central theme of the justification being the fact that people measure differently from one another. They both cherry pick statistics that support their preformed conclusions. They both ignore real causes of their measurements in favor of their own sophistry. The more things change; the more they stay the same.

Shrier made a total fool of herself here, throwing away an opportunity to pick apart the student's question. Shrier could have pointed out that the student was presenting a "false binary", and thereby could have reminded everyone about this type of logical fallacy. Shrier could have pointed out that nobody can know whether a given "trans" individual would have committed suicide had he/she been treated for his/her psychological disorder rather than being chemically and surgically mutilated. Shrier could have pointed out that there are no well-controlled clinical studies comparing suicide rates of "transgender" people vs. those who had received specific types of purely psychological counseling, and that it would be difficult to conduct such a study given that people inclined toward "transgenderism" probably suffer from a variety of traumas and/or mental disorders. Shrier could have brought up the likelihood of long-term physiological harm from totally unnatural chemical and surgical mutilation. But she didn't do any of those things. Instead she committed her own logical fallacy by changing the subject. I lost a lot of respect for Shrier watching this.

Would someone tell Melody Panel the word is “tenet” not “tenant?” Tenet is a core principle. Tenant is someone who lives in a building. Her core tenet of rest is a logical absurdity. Rest is a natural state of being after strong exertion, not a desired end in itself. This whole diatribe is a vapid word salad that seems to promote sloth over achievement.
