I live close enough to get up there often. Know every turn and every chipmunk at the overlook!

The drive was nice but I prefer some sound - talking or easy music instead of silence.
@JustDriveAmericaАй бұрын
Thanks for your comment. I thought a lot about putting some background music, but the video is 20 minutes long, and on top of that, someone complained that he would rather not have any music at all on one of my previous videos. Anyway, my aim was to show fellow travellers what to expect if they want to drive this road.

I have ridden this road on a Ducati Multistrada, Yamaha Super Tenere, and a Honda Goldwing. Awesome views of the surrounding region and Valley of the Gods. It looks a little ravaged by the recent rains, nothing a grader can't fix easily.

Thanks for showing the breath taking views. It was unfortunate I didn't get to see any of it when I drove it. It's definitely an eyes on the road, two hands on the steering wheel drive. And hope there's no oncoming traffic.

I’m curious…I have driven my truck up and down some really steep inclines/declines and each time I wonder what gear I should have my truck in. I worry about riding my brakes a lot and if they’ll give out and I also worry about the transmission. I keep it in Drive and pray nothing bad happens and tell myself…new brakes cost less than a new transmission.
@JustDriveAmerica2 ай бұрын
Moki Dugway is not that steep. I drove it up and down several times, and I never had to use a lower gear. The brakes did the job just fine.
@kimmiller6152 ай бұрын
@@JustDriveAmerica Sonora Pass was 26% incline/decline and I didn’t know what gear to put my truck in and was praying my brakes didn’t give out. LOL I’m going to have to do this Moki Dugway one day soon!

We ran this from Aspen on the way to the Land Rover National Rally in Buena Vista in August. You managed to get a couple Range Rovers in your footage going up as you descended from the summit. It is definitely a spectacular drive.

What vehicle were you in ? Such forest roads are ok, so long as it doesn't rain. Even a little bit of rain makes it very muddy and you cannot climb a muddy road. Nor can you drive down a muddy road. Your vehicle will literally Ski off the mountain. I was in a front wheel drive vehicle on a forest road by Cimarron NM. I will never drive on a wet muddy forest road again. I am lucky to be alive, I could have skid off the mountain.

In 1996, on a one week bus tour, from Salt Lake City to Denver, we briefly stopped at Deadwood, S.D. The #10 saloon looks different & the narrator didnt show the small casinos in town (one owned by Kevin Costner's brother). Even Hickok's & Calamity Jane's gravesites look different! Still, it was great fun to see this actual, historical town!

Was there this month. When you get to the top and turn left there are some phenomenal camping spots that overlook monument valley. Just take the graded dirt road a couple miles and you will see the overlook. It is beautiful. Dont go when it is raining, the road turns to mud.
