That’s almost a temporary fix. Why are all the fuses popping to begin with? My sister is going nuts right now with the same problem.

The tap from the gas tank is not a vacuum line, its ment to lead overflow gas from the gas cap place
@Lirvic86cv26 күн бұрын
I had the same issue finding a gas cap for that tank so i ended up putting a sportster tank on it and going bobber instead. I have another one of those bikes here im gonna turn into a cafe. Luckily this one has keys. The issue you're having with your carbs is a linkage. Separate thm abd clean the rust off. Dont force it or it will come offf sync and wont allow air in properly.

Soak the carb with 50/50 atf/actone. the original lube nut buster.. good progress..its like 15.00 bucks for a quart of actone.. atf dextron cheapest stuff u find or have

Don’t buy kits! They’re a waste of money. Your carburetors can likely be repaired. As long as the bodies aren’t trashed. Where did you source the foot rests? I like them.

Clubmans will have you leaning far forward. I think you’ll find the stock footpeg position too far forward. The European market XS11 had the pegs farther back. Rearsets would be ideal.

I would upgrade the fuse box with a water proof Amazon one.. so you can buy spare fuses on the road.. it’s like 10 bucks..
@flir67man842 ай бұрын
Good progress, I would use the club handle bars vs clip ones. The dependability of the clip on vs the clip ones can slip. The rear pegs can be used as shift changer controls so you can put your feet back. Someone cut my rears off so I can’t do rear shift controls.

Just found your channel I have a 1977 Yamaha xs750 cafe racer I’m building .. I’m in nc … the ground for starter switch on my bike runs from right control to left control through handle bars.. so any painted handle under connector switch won’t work..
@flir67man842 ай бұрын
The handle bar itself carries the ground ..

Hi Dr. i will be following with great interest. I owned a XS100 in the 80s. It had been in a minor bingle and the front forks were slightly bent, bought it very cheap as the old rider (his first bike ) shit himself and wanted the memories retired. I was 19 at the time and have survived till 65. 🤣 When I wanted to buy a house 2 years later the Bank basically sell it and you have a loan.🥲.

I appreciate the support sir! I had to sell my 1979 XS750 when my wife was pregnant with our third and it was a sad day. I hope you’ll continue to enjoy the process.

The rubber bungs in the pilot jet housings were fitted from new. The pilot jet gets gets petrol from the main jet/emulsion tube housing.

Thank you! I appreciate the info!
@jetmechmartyАй бұрын
The rubber bungs belong there only when there is an open channel between the main and pilot jet housings. If there is no channel, throw the plugs away. If memory serves, the plugs don't belong on that bike.
@jetmechmartyАй бұрын

The motor sounds horrible. Lots or metallic noises. Maybe it's just the audio. If it's a nice truck, no rust, and not ragged out, it's worth an engine rebuild or replacement.

well, I spent the $400+ for the dual can setup from Radium, complete w/adapter cage and enough hose for the job. No rigging, no painting. I'd rather support the companies that support the industry and not some random vendor w/some unknown origin can. Glad it mostly worked for you. I feel comfortable w/spending a few more dollars (US/CAN) for a quality kit from a leading parts engineering company.

*sidenote - when you replace the radiator, you should replace the oil/transmission cooler connectors. The KEY to it NOT leaking is getting a good seal with the metal hose and the connector. NEVER replace just the gasket. You want a GOOD connection - not a 'should be' good connection. 4.3 vortec is notorious for oil/transmission leaks (ae. air filter banging against it on drivers side). Easy install - remove and replace. **note - make SURE you have the RIGHT connector. There ARE different ones depending on your model/yr. They're cheap $ and WORTH IT.

We used to do this 💩 in the 2000s and it literally made 0 hp on a dyno (on multiple trucks). That piece is there to help distribute air evenly to each cylinder. People claim it makes a difference but the dyno doesn't lie.
