This is fantastic! I've been listening to the beatles and then John's solo stuff for 30 years - but I never expected to hear this song sound so complete and perfect. I was already impressed, but then the part with Paul's voice came in and I knew I had to comment and tell you it's actually brilliant. It sounds like it's from an alternate universe where the Beatles never split up and they released an album in 1980. Thank you for uploading this. Really.

Of all the late releases based on John's demo tapes (Real Love, Free as a Bird, Now and Then etc).... this song and this version of it, sounds most like a real Beatles recording done in the late 60s. Spot on perfect.

Una grande canzone molto semplice, ma intensa, ispirata e commovente , come sapeva fare John meglio di ogni altro. Un brano ideale per celebrare un matrimonio, o, quantomeno , un legame affettivo, con i migliori auspici . Come molte coppie anglosassoni già fanno spesso. Ottima l'idea di inserire ad un certo punto la voce di McCartney, un pò diversa da quella di John, la quale rende il brano più vario e quindi ancora più efficace. A mio modesto avviso senza Yoko i Beatles ci sarebbero ancora con un repertorio vastissimo ,eccezionale, inarrivabile, capace di spaziare in ogni genere di musica, da quella più leggera, brillante e melodica a quella , più seria, profonda e aspra, sperimentale e di impegno sociale e politico . E molto probabilmente John, il quale durante la breve carriera solista troppo impegnato nel sociale, troppo esposto, influente e popolare, specie sui giovani di tutto il mondo , sarebbe ancora vivo.

And to think that the Beatles themselves didn’t even try to do “Grow Old With Me”. Or Be John left 4 songs unfinished and Paul, Ringo and George only worked on the three songs which were "Free As a Bird", "Real Love" and "Now and Then". unfortunately they They scrapped the fourth song for unknown reasons... Yes, it has a lot to do with the Beatles, as when Yoko gave the tapes to Paul, this song was considered by the remaining Beatles for the anthology project, before being scrapped for personal reasons.

My wife found this song goodness knows where and said to me I want this is at our wedding, and as a long time Beatles fan, I’m ashamed to say I’ve never heard it but I had my son sing it At our wedding in Hardwick Hall Derbyshire and yes it was magical special to me so each time I hear it I’m amazed XX

Imagine Paul McCartney listening to this. Do you think he would like it? Maybe… in a way. But John and Paul both took pride in not repeating themselves, not being predictable. So maybe he wouldn’t hate this, but in addition to many other kinds of creepy sicky feelings this might dredge up, it would also be a challenge to drive on deeper into his creativity and to defy or exceed common expectations. That’s how the Beatles excelled and dominated the music scene during their brief career, and in their way each of them carried on in that tradition the best they could, for as long as they could. (Ringo can still surprise you, and Paul is still innovating in Egypt Station and McCartney III). In that sense, Paul might be ok with this, but because he likes a challenge.

John Lennon recorded the song on his album 'Milk and Honey' but it wasn't quite complete enough for a single release I believe. Shortly after the album release John Lennon was murdered by Mark Chapman.
